Triple J’s Mid-Year Celebration

This survey period coincided with two major events: the One Night Stand in Busselton, regional Western Australia, and the launch of the triple j Hottest 100 of Australian Songs. These events have been pivotal in drawing diverse audiences, as triple j celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The mid-year celebration has resonated across generations, with artists, sports stars, and even the Prime Minister sharing their votes. This has sparked lively discussions about which tracks deserve a spot on the list of the greatest Australian songs of all time.

Record-Breaking Engagement

Head of triple j and Double J, Lachlan Macara, expressed his excitement about the upcoming countdown. “This weekend’s Hottest 100 is set to be something really special, a huge celebration of local music that’s resonated with Australians across time. We couldn’t be prouder to bring it to life as part of triple j’s 50th celebrations,” he stated.

The response has been incredible, with huge voting numbers helping to build an iconic Hottest 100 list of our favourite Australian songs. It’s going to be a real journey for music lovers and listeners, packed with moments to celebrate the rich legacy of music made right here at home.

The countdown has amassed 2,655,826 votes, making it the fourth largest in triple j’s history. Additionally, triple j’s video content has garnered 92 million views across social platforms and YouTube during this period, reflecting the station’s robust digital engagement.

ABC’s Steady Reach

Meanwhile, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has maintained a steady reach, with 4.585 million listeners each week across the five major capital city markets. The ABC continues to hold its position as the number one digital live streaming network with a 25.9% share.
