Blessed with one of the largest young populations in the world, India has always been home to many phenomenal artists with diverse talents. Though every year we see such new talented artists on reality TV and talent hunt shows, there are many others who fail to fulfill their aspirations in the absence of right platform or right opportunity. This, however, does not stand true for Tiki Squad 01, a group of home grown artists from different cities and towns, who combined their talent to compete through a two-month-long competition. After being adjudged the winner of the competition, they are all set to charm the audience with a music video starring ‘Bam Bhole’ fame rapper Viruss.
The team comprises a total of nine artists – Azhan Memon, Deepesh Tiwari, Tanu Jain, Nawaab Kevar, Javed Khan, Aasheer Khan, Shubham Verma, Almaaz Khan and Husena Khan – of which the latter two are still pursuing their school education. Two members of the squad come from Mumbai while others hail from smaller towns like Ajmer, Kota, Indore and Gandhidham. Even as they came from humble backgrounds and regions with limited scope to showcase their talent, they did not let any obstacle come in the way of their zeal to follow their dreams.
The artists have been acquainted with each other for long, as they happened to simultaneously start using a short video app few years ago. However, it was only after their debut on Tiki app that they came across an opportunity to discover their combined mettle. These artists formed a team and jointly battled through eight weeks of the competition to finally emerge the winner among at least 30 teams and more than 300 participants. The music video featuring the artists is essentially a song titled #DiamondKaHaar, which has been sung by singer, composer & songwriter Ayush Talniya, Brown Gal along with rapper Viruss.
In the music video released on August 27, the squad can be seen planning a major heist. Though they fail to execute their plan successfully, the team members come across another lifetime opportunity that prevents them from being part of a criminal activity. What holds even more significance is the sense of pride and confidence instilled in each artist through the opportunity. While many of them got to be a part of professional dancing rehearsal for the first time in life, a few had not even faced a professional camera or travelled in a flight earlier.
When asked as to how they perceive the opportunity and whether or not their children had to comprise on education because of the competition and music video shoot, parents of both the talented children Almaaz and Husena mentioned that they were elated that their kids were getting a chance to pursue their passions at such young age. They added that since everything from travel to the music video shoot were conducted under their supervision, they were completely satisfied with the turn of events and also succeeded in striking a balance when it came to their studies.
Tiki short video app provided all these artists an opportunity to be part of a larger community of like-minded individuals and content creators. Furthermore, the app has emerged as a platform where even grassroots artists can become popular stars.
