A Sunshine Coast-based tech company, Entag, is set to expand its workforce to nearly 150 staff following its acquisition of Rubicon 8, a firm renowned for its expertise in cybersecurity, cloud services, and automation. This strategic move is expected to enhance Entag’s capacity to serve more businesses and government clients across Australia, fostering growth, innovation, and local employment opportunities.
The acquisition, supported by Sydney-based investment firm Anchorage Capital Partners, brings together over 145 experts working from Entag’s headquarters in Birtinya, as well as in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Entag CEO Kris Carver emphasized the alignment of values and customer service focus between the two companies.
“We’re excited to bring together two great teams with complementary strengths,” Carver stated. “This is about building something bigger and better for our customers and our people. Entag is investing in the future and the Sunshine Coast is at the heart of it.”
Strategic Backing and Industry Impact
Anchorage Capital Partners played a pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition. Edward Bostock, managing partner at Anchorage, highlighted the potential for innovation and leadership within the technology services sector.
“Entag and Rubicon 8 have built outstanding businesses with strong customer relationships. We’re excited to partner with both teams to accelerate growth and build a market-leading IT services platform in Australia,” Bostock commented. “By leveraging the combined strengths of both businesses, scaling systems and processes, and deploying the Anchorage value-creation playbook, we aim to create significant long-term value for our customers.”
Entag’s strategy anticipates industry changes, focusing on delivering intelligent solutions. Carver noted the importance of strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Telstra, Microsoft, Apple, Fortinet, and Samsung in leading the next chapter of digital transformation in Australia.
Industry Recognition and Future Prospects
This announcement follows recent accolades for both organizations at the 2025 Telstra Partner Awards. Entag was recognized as Telstra Enterprise Partner of the Year and Telstra Cloud and AI Partner of the Year, while Rubicon 8 was named Telstra Business Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year, also receiving the Telstra Data and Connectivity Partner of the Year award.
Carver expressed confidence in the acquisition’s potential to enhance customer experiences through deeper technology expertise, faster innovation cycles, and integrated platforms designed to grow with businesses.
“The acquisition of Rubicon 8 enables us to bring together best-of-breed technology services and platforms that are agile, scalable, and aligned with the changing needs of our customers,” Carver explained.
Looking Ahead: Opportunities and Challenges
The expansion represents a significant milestone for Entag, positioning the company as a formidable player in the Australian IT services landscape. As technology continues to evolve, the demand for comprehensive and adaptable solutions is paramount. The combined expertise and resources of Entag and Rubicon 8 are expected to meet these demands effectively.
However, the integration of two distinct corporate cultures and operational systems presents challenges that will require careful management. As the industry landscape shifts, maintaining a strong focus on innovation and customer satisfaction will be crucial for sustained success.
With the backing of Anchorage Capital Partners and a robust strategic vision, Entag is poised to capitalize on emerging opportunities and navigate the complexities of the digital age. The expansion not only strengthens its market position but also underscores the Sunshine Coast’s growing reputation as a hub for technological advancement.
