The new Skoda Fabia 130, a limited-edition model, has been unveiled, promising to be the fastest iteration of the Czech automaker’s city hatchback yet. Despite the absence of a successor to the second-generation Fabia RS, this special edition aims to inject a sporty zest into Skoda’s lineup.

Under the hood, the Fabia 130 boasts a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, similar to the one found in the 110TSI Monte Carlo. However, the engine in the Fabia 130 has been fine-tuned to deliver an impressive 130kW of power and 250Nm of torque. This represents a 20kW increase over the Monte Carlo, although the torque remains the same.

Performance Enhancements and Design

The front wheels of the Fabia 130 are powered by a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission, which has been recalibrated for quicker response times. Skoda claims that this configuration allows the Fabia 130 to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 228km/h. In comparison, the Monte Carlo achieves the same sprint in 8.0 seconds.

Further enhancing its sporty credentials, the Fabia 130 features a retuned steering system for a more dynamic driving experience and adopts the Monte Carlo’s 15mm lower suspension package. Externally, the car is distinguished by a gloss black front splitter, rear spoiler, 18-inch ‘Libra’ alloy wheels with a smoked finish, red brake calipers, dual exhaust outlets, and darkened headlight bezels.

Interior and Aesthetic Details

Inside, the Fabia 130 sports seats with integrated head restraints, silver accents on the dashboard and doors, and special sill plates featuring a 130 motif. The exterior is further accentuated by 130 badging on the front fenders and tailgate, along with a black strip connecting the tail-light clusters. Buyers can choose from four metallic paint colors: white, blue, red, and black.

Market Availability and Future Prospects

Skoda has announced that the first European deliveries of the Fabia 130 are scheduled for December. Although production will be limited, the company has not disclosed the exact number of units or the pricing details. Enthusiasts in Australia are eagerly awaiting news on whether this model will be available Down Under, with Skoda Australia yet to confirm its availability.

This development follows Skoda’s ongoing efforts to enhance its brand appeal by offering limited-edition models that cater to performance enthusiasts. The move represents a strategic attempt to bridge the gap left by the absence of the Fabia RS, providing a more exhilarating driving experience within the compact hatchback segment.

“The Fabia 130 is Skoda’s answer to those craving a blend of everyday practicality with a touch of performance flair,” said an industry expert. “It’s a nod to the brand’s motorsport heritage while staying true to its value-for-money ethos.”

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Skoda’s introduction of the Fabia 130 highlights the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. This model not only enhances Skoda’s portfolio but also sets a precedent for future releases that may push the boundaries of performance within the compact car category.
