samsung-introduces-vision-ai-companion-a-leap-in-smart-tv-technology

Samsung has unveiled its latest innovation, the Vision AI Companion, designed to enhance the home entertainment experience through artificial intelligence. This new feature, powered by generative AI, will be available on select 2025 Samsung Smart TVs and monitors, initially launching in Australia with further rollouts planned for Korea, North America, and parts of Europe.

The Vision AI Companion builds upon Samsung’s existing Bixby voice assistant, aiming to deliver more natural interactions, personalized content discovery, and integrated support within the home environment. This development represents Samsung’s continued investment in AI technology to redefine user interaction with televisions.

Personalization and Integration

Vision AI Companion consolidates several of Samsung’s AI-driven display features, enabling users to engage naturally with their televisions. It offers personalized recommendations and facilitates intuitive interactions across multiple devices within a connected home setting. This marks a significant step towards making entertainment technology more attuned to individual needs.

Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, emphasized the company’s focus on future-oriented technology. “At Samsung, we’re investing in technology that makes experiences more personal, more intuitive, and built for the future,” Lee stated. “With Vision AI Companion, we are redefining what a TV can do, going beyond picture quality and sound to deliver an experience that understands you, interacts with you, and evolves with you over time.”

AI-Powered Interaction

The Vision AI Companion distinguishes itself with its ability to answer questions and respond using intelligent, visual outputs. This is facilitated by multiple in-built AI agents, with generative AI enabling the system to handle follow-up questions and maintain conversational flow.

Among the proprietary AI features unified into this platform are Generative Wallpaper, AI Picture, Active Voice Amplifier Pro, and AI Upscaling Pro. These features adjust display and sound settings based on the environment and content, enhancing the viewing experience. Additionally, AI Gaming Mode optimizes performance for gamers, while productivity is boosted with AI agent apps like Microsoft’s Copilot and Perplexity, available directly on the TV.

“Integrating these functions removes the need to toggle between different apps or menus, making the TV or monitor a hub for tasks ranging from entertainment to productivity and device management,” Samsung states.

Long-Term Support and Updates

Samsung first introduced the Vision AI concept at CES 2025, outlining its ambition to enhance user experiences across connected displays. The Vision AI Companion is part of Samsung’s commitment to providing seven years of software updates for supported models via the One UI Tizen platform, including regular security updates through Samsung Knox.

By incorporating Vision AI Companion into its product ecosystem, Samsung aims to increase the relevance of televisions as central devices within the connected home, supporting a range of new user needs and enabling more seamless device integration. Details about compatibility, including which models and regions will receive Vision AI Companion, have been partially released, with further updates expected as the global rollout progresses.

In Australia, consumers will see the new features on eligible 2025 TV models, with expansion to other models and markets to follow. This strategic move underscores Samsung’s vision of evolving the television into a comprehensive hub for both entertainment and productivity, setting a new standard in the industry.
