Swiss smartphone brand Punkt. has unveiled its latest device, the MC03, ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. Known for its commitment to privacy-first technology and minimalist design, Punkt. continues its tradition with this new release, aiming to offer users enhanced control over their personal data.

The MC03 is assembled in Germany and operates on AphyOS, an open-source Android-based system. This software is designed to minimize tracking technologies, eliminate bloatware, and prevent hidden apps and unauthorized background activities. According to Punkt., “If you don’t pay for a product, you are the product. With the MC03, you pay to retain your data, as an alternative to paying with your data.”

Privacy-Centric Features

Like its predecessor, the MC02, the MC03 employs a dual-repository system for data storage, known as the Vault and the Wild Web. The Vault is reserved for data from Punkt.-approved applications, including those from Proton, such as Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton VPN, and Proton Pass. The Wild Web allows users to install any Android app, provided it offers clear privacy controls and prevents unauthorized data sharing.

Advanced Hardware Specifications

On the hardware front, the MC03 boasts a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED 120Hz display, a 5,200mAh removable battery, a 64MP main camera, and a 32MP front camera. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7300 (MT6878) chip with 8GB of RAM. The phone also features an IP68 rating, indicating significant resistance to dust and water.

Subscription Model and Pricing

In a move similar to fitness tech company Whoop, Punkt. adopts a subscription-based model. The MC03 is priced at $699, which includes free access to its services, such as the built-in Digital Nomad VPN, for the first 12 months. Post this period, a subscription fee of $9.99 per month is required for the AphyOS software. Punkt. also offers bundled options: a 3-year subscription at $129 and a 5-year subscription at $199, reducing the monthly cost to $5.38 and $4.15, respectively.

“Without an active subscription, certain core services and privacy features will be limited,” Punkt. states. “The subscription funds ongoing security updates, privacy services, infrastructure, and continuous OS development—without relying on advertising, data harvesting, or profiling. This ensures long-term independence, transparency, and trust.”
