Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s upcoming romantic drama film Kushi is nearing release. In the lead-up to its theatrical debut, makers organised a grand musical concert for fans. At the event, Vijay opened up about Samantha’s struggle with myositis diagnosis and how she shot for the film despite her health struggles.

Vijay Deverakonda opens up about Samantha’s struggles
At the musical concert of Kushi, Vijay Deverakonda talked in detail about Samantha as his co-star and her struggle after myositis diagnosis. He mentioned that he wants this film to succeed as the Yashoda actress has put in a lot of hard work into the project. Vijay said, “We started this film in April 2022 with a smile on our faces. We had completed 60 per cent. Only 30-35 per cent shooting was pending. By July, Sam’s health condition deteriorated.”

The Arjun Reddy actor revealed that he and Shiva took her health lightly earlier as she looked beautiful, but later they understood her condition. He said that he got to know about Samantha’s health issues in July, when he was busy with the promotions. Vijay revealed that Samantha stopped talking to everyone and maintained a distance as she was extremely unwell. He added, “She fought so many battles. At that point, she decided to share it with everyone, just to tell people that there’s hope.”
Vijay talks about Samantha being an inspiration
At the event, Vijay talked about how people came up to Samantha and said that “she was an inspiration.” He further revealed that Samantha is still not doing well and gets headaches while her eyes hurt whenever she comes across any light. He said, “Yet, she shows up. She knows that all of you are here with your love. She dresses up, she smiles and she dances for you all.”
Meanwhile, Vijay and Samantha’s Kushi will release on September 1.
