As per sources, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi, who were present at the meeting, asked the party leaders to remain united and connected with people.

After the meeting, Congress leader Alka Lamba said that the party leaders have been asked to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections.

She said, “In the three-hour long meeting, Rahul Gandhi, Kharge ji, KC Venugopal, and Deepak Babaria ji were present. We have been asked to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It has been decided that we will contest all seven seats. Seven months are left and all the party workers have been asked to prepare for all seven seats.”

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on alliance with Congress

Meanwhile, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj also spoke about the Congress’ move and spoke about the possibility of an alliance with Congress.

The AAP Minister stated, “Our central leadership will decide this…Our political affairs committee and I.N.D.I.A. parties will sit together and discuss this (poll alliance).”

BJP takes potshots at I.N.D.I.A

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also spoke to Republic over the move by the grand-old party and said, “This was the first political ‘Nikah’ (marriage) in which triple-talaq was decided beforehand. The moment Delhi Services Bill was over, didn’t Union Home Minister Amit Shah say that the alliance will be broken and the entire process will begin. He’s been proven correct.”

Poonawalla further stated, ”Congress’ Dinesh Gundu Rao came and he slammed AAP’s Mohalla clinics, the Aam Aadmi Party attacked Congress and then Congress said we will be contesting all the seven seats. The Punjab Congress leadership has been calling AAP pro-Khalistani and the AAP leadership of Punjab says that Congress is responsible for all kinds of things in Punjab, including the 1984 deadly riots. So they were an alliance of convenience and soon you will see how AAP will leave this so-called I.N.D.I.A alliance very soon.”

Furthermore, lambasting the opposition alliance, Poonawalla said, “This was never an alliance built on mission or vision. It was built on saving each other’s ambition for position, commission, corruption, and family profession. This was an unnatural alliance and was heading towards disaster.”
