On June 15, 2021, the cast of ‘Lagaan’ couldn’t stop gushing over the raving response the film has been getting even after 20 years of its release. The film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker had Aamir Khan in the lead role and is set against the backdrop of British rule in India. On Tuesday, the music composer of the film AR Rahman took to his Instagram page and shared a rare photo of the reunion of the whole ‘Lagaan’ team.

The photo has Aamir, Rahman, Ashutosh along with Pradeep Singh Rawat, Yashpal Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, Suhasini Mulay and British actors Paul Blackthorne and Rachel Shelley who played important roles in the film. The Oscar-winning music composer captioned the photo stating, “#20YearsOfLagaan an emotional and proud team!”

Meanwhile, talking about Paul, Aamir was all praises for his ‘Lagaan’ co-star. He told IANS, “Paul Blackthorne who played the villain, in real life he is such a sweetheart. He is a gentle giant and so soft-spoken. He was always laughing, always joking around. We had a massive make-up room where all of us used to get ready. The person who used to be entertaining all of us was Paul. He would sit on his chair and read ‘Winnie the Pooh’ aloud. Every morning, we’d sit, get our makeup done and he’d be reading ‘Winnie The Pooh’ loudly and we’d enjoy it. Captain Russel would read out ‘Winnie The Pooh’ to us.”

‘Lagaan’ also marked the Bollywood debut of Gracy Singh who played the female lead opposite Aamir.
