As India gears up for its lunar milestone with the soft landing Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s surface imminent, an unexpected twist has emerged in the story. Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, the former Pakistan minister who had once mocked India’s space endeavours, seems to have done a complete about-face. In a surprising change of heart, Chaudhry is now singing praises for India’s moon mission.
In 2019, when the Chandrayaan-2 mission faced a setback and failed to achieve a soft landing, Chaudhry, then serving as a minister in Imran Khan’s government, couldn’t resist a jab. He had commented that “Endia” could only “reach the moon through Bollywood,” sparking a wave of online banter between the neighbouring countries.
Fast forward to today, and the tables have turned. Fawad Chaudhry, in a surprising move, took to Twitter to encourage Pakistani media to broadcast the live coverage of Chandrayaan-3’s landing. He even referred to the mission as a “historic moment” for humankind.
“Pak media should show #Chandrayan moon landing live tomorrow at 6:15 PM… historic moment for Humankind especially for the people, scientists and Space community of India…. Many Congratulations (sic),” Fawad Chaudhry tweeted.

Netizens have seized the opportunity to mock the former Pakistan minister. Some have playfully referred to this change of heart as a “software update” in Fawad’s perspective. One social media user joked, “It’s good that the people of Pakistan gained wisdom.” Another remarked, “Fawad has now changed; he’s gained some sense that he should not mess with India.” A creative twist was added by someone who noted, “Software updated. Word Endia, replaced by India.”
One Pakistani user said that Pak should learn from India’s ISRO. “Absolutely right and make a special programs about this how it is made and what difficulties they face. They should tell to people how Luna 25 has been crashed near moon… Arrange special programs and must debate on it. Also need SPARCO (Pak space agency) to learn from this And try to Focus.”
It is pertinent to mention that Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled to execute its soft landing manoeuvre on August 23, around 6.04 pm (Indian Standard Time). You can watch Chandrayaan-3 LIVE here:
