DNA TV Show: How India-Canada relations soured over Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing

After the Canadian PM’s allegations, the Indian Ambassador to Canada was sent to India. New Delhi also responded in a similar manner.

A political war has started between Canada and India after Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing. It started when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged India’s role in the murder of Nijjar. However, Trudeau’s government has not given evidence yet. Not only this, the investigation of this matter has also not been completed. But despite this, Trudeau is making serious allegations against India for his political compulsions and the vote bank of Khalistani supporters.

Since these allegations, a diplomatic war has started between Canada and India. After the Canadian PM’s allegations, the Indian Ambassador to Canada was sent to India. New Delhi also responded to this diplomatic move of Canada in a similar manner. It accused a senior Canadian ambassador of being involved in anti-India activities and asked him to leave India within 5 days.

There is a saying in English, Tit for Tat. India is moving forward on this diplomacy. The diplomatic move to return the ambassadors jolted Canada. Trudeau soon issued another statement, saying the purpose of his statement given in Parliament was not to provoke India.

After this, India issued an advisory to its citizens and students living in Canada. The Indian government said that due to the increase in anti-India activities in Canada, Indian citizens need to be more careful. It suggested to avoid areas where anti-India activities are taking place. Not only this, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has advised them to register themselves with the Indian High Commission through ‘MADAD.GOV.IN’.

The advisory issued for Indians living in Canada is a reasonable step. The situation prevailing in Canada is not good for Indian citizens. The difficulties are especially severe for the Hindu community living in Canada. Indian intelligence agencies have received some major information about Khalistani terrorists.
