After Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC) on Friday, August 25 repeated the ‘China has taken Indian land’ stance. The grand old party also questioned the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg.
Taking to X, Congress said, “On one hand, PM Modi meets the President of China on foreign soil. On the other hand, China keeps occupying thousands of square kilometres of India’s land. Builds roads and bridges on the Indian border. This process continues. That’s why today the whole country wants to know what does PM Modi talk to the President of China?”

The party’s reaction comes after its leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said, “Ladakh is a strategic location…One thing is very clear: China has taken away India’s land…It is sad that the PM in the opposition meeting said that not even an inch of Ladakh has been taken by China. This is a lie…”
He said the main issues of Ladakh are that the political voice of the people here is being “suppressed”, all the assurances of the government on employment have turned out to be “false”. He also pointed out lack of mobile network and air connectivity.
“I will raise all these issues in Parliament in the next session,” Gandhi said while thanking Ladakhis for the welcome and love he had received.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, said that taking forward the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi met the people of Ladakh.
“It is clear after listening to these problems that the Modi government has left Ladakh to fend itself. Leaders who are only interested in their ‘Mann Ki Baat’ can never allow the people’s voice to be heard,” Ramesh said.
