peloton-cross-training-bike-a-new-era-in-home-fitness

Cody Rigsby is back in the spotlight, and Peloton enthusiasts couldn’t be happier. The beloved fitness instructor is now featured on the Peloton Cross Training Bike+, a new offering priced at $2,695, with an additional $49.99 monthly fee for an All Access class membership. This innovative bike, equipped with an AI-powered camera, tracks movements, counts reps, and analyzes form to provide real-time technique corrections during strength training workouts. Its versatility extends beyond cardio, making it an Editors’ Choice for smart stationary bikes.

The Cross Training Bike+ boasts voice control for seamless camera angle adjustments and volume control during mat workouts. Enhanced by built-in Sonos speakers, the audio experience is immersive. Additional features such as a phone holder, fan, and redesigned seat enhance overall comfort. Despite its high price, the bike’s multifaceted capabilities justify the investment for many fitness enthusiasts.

Price and Membership: Interactive Fitness Comes at a Cost

At $2,695, the Peloton Cross Training Bike+ is $200 more than its predecessor. Considering the original Bike+ launched five years ago in 2020, this price increase is modest. For comparison, the new Tonal 2 smart strength training machine costs $4,295, a $1,300 hike from its original model.

Peloton has also upgraded its entry-level cycle, the $1,695 Cross Training Bike, which now includes a swiveling screen mount but lacks the new movement-tracking camera, voice control, and automatic resistance adjustments. The movement-tracking camera, powered by Peloton IQ, is also available on the Cross Training Row+ ($3,495) and Tread+ ($6,695), offering a consistent strength training experience across different cardio machines.

The Peloton All-Access membership, necessary for class participation on the Cross Training Bike+ or any Peloton machine, has increased to $49.99 monthly from $39. This is higher than the iFit membership ($39 monthly) on NordicTrack bikes or the Equinox+ membership ($40 monthly) on the SoulCycle At-Home Bike. Among smart fitness machines, Tonal 2’s membership is the most expensive at $59.95 monthly.

“The All-Access membership offers unlimited access to Peloton’s class library and the ability to create up to 20 user profiles on the machine, allowing everyone in your household to track their workout stats and receive personalized workout suggestions.”

Without an All-Access membership, users can only access the bike in Just Ride mode, which displays metrics but lacks entertainment features.

Expansive Class Offerings and Entertainment Options

Beyond cycling, the Bike+ offers classes in Bootcamp, Cardio, Strength, Stretching, Yoga, and Meditation. Peloton’s class library is continually expanding, keeping the brand at the forefront of fitness trends. Recently, Peloton introduced Sculpt Flow, a yoga style incorporating strength training and cardio.

Peloton streams six to nine live classes daily and offers structured workout programs like 7 Days of Stretching and Crush Your Core: 14 Day Streak. Additional entertainment options include the fitness game Lanebreak and access to streaming apps like Netflix and Disney+ (subscriptions required). A Kindle app is also available for ebook reading during workouts.

For scenic rides, Peloton offers a selection, though most are unguided. NordicTrack, with its extensive library of iFit global workouts, may be a better option for those seeking guided scenic classes.

Design and Specifications: Sleek and Comfortable

The Cross Training Bike+ maintains a compact design with comfort upgrades. Measuring 54 by 22 by 60 inches, it has a 48-by-24-inch footprint. Rider requirements remain unchanged, accommodating individuals between 4’11” and 6’5” tall, weighing up to 297 pounds. Delta-compatible clip-in cycling shoes are required.

The bike features a 23.8-inch Full HD swivel screen, similar to the previous model, which rotates 360 degrees and tilts for optimal viewing during floor-based workouts. The new AI movement-tracking camera enhances strength training with capabilities like rep counting and form corrections.

“Music is integral to the Peloton experience, and the Cross Training Bike+ improves sound quality with Sonos-tuned speakers and a rear-facing woofer for added bass.”

The redesigned Comfort Saddle minimizes discomfort, and the included fan and phone holder add convenience. The red resistance knob allows for easy resistance adjustments, with an Auto-Resistance feature that syncs with the trainer’s cues.

Strength Training Features: AI-Powered Enhancements

The movement-tracking camera supports 120 movements and provides form feedback for over 50 exercises. Peloton’s rep-counting technology is generally accurate, though occasional discrepancies occur. Sound effects enhance the experience, offering a slight dopamine rush with each tracked rep.

Peloton IQ form corrections can be insightful, helping users improve their technique. The system tracks volume lifted based on light, medium, and heavy dumbbell settings, though it lacks the granular tracking offered by competitors like Tonal.

“Peloton IQ insights and tips help users stay focused on their fitness goals, offering class suggestions based on individual preferences.”

Overall, the Cross Training Bike+ has helped users like Cody Rigsby build strength and stay motivated. The bike’s comprehensive features and engaging classes make it a standout choice for those seeking a versatile home fitness solution.
