nvidia-dlss-4-5-now-available-revolutionizing-image-fidelity-for-gamers

NVIDIA has officially rolled out its highly anticipated DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution technology to all NVIDIA App users, marking a significant leap in image fidelity. This update, which was unveiled last week at CES, introduces cutting-edge advancements that promise to enhance the gaming experience for users worldwide.

The latest update to the NVIDIA App includes DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution support, which is now accessible to everyone. The release follows the introduction of two major updates: increased image fidelity with the 2nd Gen Transformer model and Multi-frame generation (MFG) support of up to 6x. The first of these technologies is now out of BETA and available through the NVIDIA App.

Enhanced Image Quality and Performance

For users already utilizing the NVIDIA App, the update will be automatically rolled out. Alternatively, manual installation is available through the official NVIDIA website. The 2nd Gen Transformer model, which is 5x more compute-intensive, operates across all RTX GPUs, including the RTX 20, RTX 30, RTX 40, and RTX 50 series.

Our initial tests reveal that the new NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Presets M and L significantly reduce ghosting while delivering sharper and enhanced image quality. This advancement is expected to revolutionize the visual experience for gamers.

“DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution will be supported by over 400 games and applications,” NVIDIA announced, emphasizing the technology’s broad applicability.

Compatibility and Limitations

While DLSS 4.5 is optimized for RTX 50 and RTX 40 GPUs with upgraded Tensor Cores and FP4 support, older GPUs can also benefit, provided there is excess FPS headroom. However, enabling DLSS 4.5 on these older architectures may result in a larger performance hit compared to newer models.

New Features and Updates in NVIDIA App

In addition to DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, the NVIDIA App update introduces several new features designed to enhance user experience. The NVIDIA App v11.0.6 includes:

  • Integration of all remaining NVIDIA Surround settings from the NVIDIA Control Panel, with options for bezel correction and hotkeys.
  • Improved visibility for laptop users with Advanced Optimus, now displaying full application names that block activation.
  • A “Debug Mode” in System > Advanced to instantly disable all overclocking and voltage tweaks, aiding in troubleshooting system instability.
  • An advanced “Developer” option for profiling and debugging tools, which general users can leave unchanged.

New RTX Titles with DLSS 4.5 Support

Alongside the NVIDIA App updates, two new RTX titles have been announced, utilizing DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution:

LET IT DIE: INFERNO

SUPERTRICK GAMES and GungHo Online Entertainment’s LET IT DIE: INFERNO, a rogue-lite survival action game, has received an update to incorporate DLSS Super Resolution, boosting performance for GeForce RTX gamers.

StarRupture

Creepy Jar’s StarRupture, an Early Access first-person open-world base-building game, launched with day-one support for DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation. With the NVIDIA app, users can enhance image quality using the new DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution 2nd generation transformer AI model.

Looking Ahead

As NVIDIA continues to innovate, the upcoming Spring update promises to introduce MFG 6x mode support, further enhancing the capabilities of the NVIDIA App. This development is eagerly anticipated by the gaming community, as it represents another step forward in gaming technology.

Overall, the release of DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution signifies a major advancement in image fidelity and performance, offering gamers a more immersive experience across a wide range of titles. As NVIDIA continues to push the boundaries of technology, users can expect even more groundbreaking updates in the future.
