  • Police are probing a shooting near Grass Street in Bonteheuwel after a 30-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the face.
  • The incident occurred on Monday morning.
  • Ward councillor Angus McKenzie said the shooting was believed to be gang related.

The body of a 30-year-old man who was gunned down in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town, has been found at an illegal dump site.

Western Cape police said they were investigating a case of murder following the deadly shooting incident in the gang-ridden suburb on Monday morning.

Abduragman Davids was shot in the face and his body was left at a dump site.

“According to reports, police attended to the crime scene near Grass Street where they found the 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his face. He died on the scene due to the injuries he sustained. No arrests have been made at this stage,” police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said.

Bonteheuwel ward councillor Angus McKenzie said the incident appeared to be gang related.

“At this point, we are encouraging residents who saw what happened or who have any information regarding the shooting to urgently contact us through our tip-off service or to contact (021) 480 7700 so that we can assist with ensuring that those who are responsible are brought to book.”

McKenzie said he visited the family on Monday morning and pledged his full support.

“This is the first murder in Bonteheuwel for a very long time,” he added.
