A builder has been appointed to construct a new town centre in Aura, a rapidly growing community. FDC Construction and Fitout (FDC) will lead the development of the first stage of the Aura Town Centre, a significant shopping hub in the heart of Stockland’s master-planned community.

The town centre will cover approximately 16,300 square meters and will feature leading supermarkets, two mini-majors, 55 specialty shops and kiosks, as well as three non-retail tenancies potentially housing health and wellbeing services. Additionally, the centre will include a car park with 680 street-level and basement spaces.

Key Milestone in Aura’s Development

Stockland development director Josh Sondergeld highlighted the importance of this development as a key retail destination for Aura. “We know the importance of having shops, dining, and services within easy reach for our residents,” he stated. “Aura Town Centre will be a high-quality retail, dining, and entertainment precinct just a short drive, cycle, or walk for the community.”

Construction is slated to commence early next year, with the opening anticipated by late 2027. As construction progresses, further details will be disclosed.

Integration with Community Amenities

Upon completion, the town centre will seamlessly connect with the 5.3-hectare Aura Parklands, a leisure destination featuring a swimming lagoon, barbecue and picnic areas, and event spaces, which began construction in June 2025. This integration is designed to enhance the lifestyle offerings for Aura residents.

The town centre’s proximity to the Comiskey Group’s Aura Hotel, announced in 2022, adds to its appeal. The hotel will include a live band room with a capacity for 2,500 people, further enriching the community’s entertainment options.

A Vision for the Future

The Aura Town Centre Plan of Development, approved by Economic Development Queensland in 2016, outlines a comprehensive vision for the area. The plan includes 90,000 square meters of retail space, 45,000 square meters of commercial space, a potential future university, a retirement living site for up to 250 dwellings, approximately 2,700 standard residential dwellings, and building heights up to 10 storeys in key areas. Additionally, about 310 hectares of conservation land are designated to preserve the natural environment.

“The development of the Aura Town Centre is not just about retail; it’s about creating a vibrant community hub that meets the diverse needs of our residents,” said Sondergeld.

Implications and Future Prospects

The appointment of FDC marks a significant step forward in realizing Aura’s potential as a thriving community. The development is expected to boost local employment opportunities during and after construction, contributing to the region’s economic growth.

As Aura continues to expand, the town centre will play a crucial role in shaping the community’s identity and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The project’s completion will likely attract further investment and development, positioning Aura as a model for sustainable urban planning.

With the construction of the Aura Town Centre set to begin soon, residents and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the transformation of their community into a bustling hub of activity and innovation.
