New HOYTS Morley

Morley’s Galleria is poised to regain its cinematic allure as HOYTS Australia & New Zealand, in partnership with Western Australia’s own ACE Cinemas, announces the opening of a state-of-the-art multiplex at the shopping center. This development comes just two months after the closure of the iconic Greater Union Cinemas, which had been a staple in the community for over 30 years.

The closure in September left many locals speculating about the future of the site. Rumors swirled that a new entertainment company might take over, and those predictions have proven accurate. The new cinema project is set to commence in 2026, coinciding with Galleria’s ambitious $240 million redevelopment plan.

A New Era of Cinematic Experience

The collaboration between HOYTS and ACE Cinemas promises to deliver a revamped movie-going experience. This venture will introduce extra-comfy recliners, designed for ultimate comfort, allowing patrons to enjoy the latest films in style. The foyer and candy bar are also slated for a significant upgrade, bringing the popular Treat City concept closer to residents of the City of Bayswater.

Furthermore, the Morley venue will be among the select few in Western Australia to feature D-BOX motion recliners, which provide an immersive experience by moving and rumbling in sync with the film. This addition marks the 11th HOYTS cinema in Western Australia and the ninth new cinema the entertainment giant has opened in Australia since 2020.

Community Impact and Expectations

HOYTS Group President Damian Keogh emphasized the importance of cinemas within communities, stating, “Cinemas are a vital part of the community and provide entertainment for Australians of all ages — customers now expect the very best standards and Morley will deliver that.” He expressed enthusiasm about bringing cutting-edge entertainment to Perth’s northeast suburbs.

Echoing this sentiment, ACE Cinemas General Manager Jeremy Pye expressed pride in maintaining the cinematic tradition in Morley. “There has been a cinema at this location for 30 years, so we are extremely proud to be keeping the movie magic alive by working with HOYTS to revamp this space and make it the premier cinema offering for local moviegoers,” Pye noted.

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter for Morley

The reopening of the cinema is expected to breathe new life into the Galleria complex, enhancing its appeal as a key entertainment hub. The project aligns with broader redevelopment efforts aimed at revitalizing the area, potentially boosting local businesses and attracting visitors from surrounding regions.

As the doors are anticipated to open in late 2026, the community eagerly awaits the return of a beloved cultural institution, now reimagined for a modern audience. This development not only signifies a new chapter for Morley but also underscores the enduring appeal and adaptability of cinema in an ever-evolving entertainment landscape.

With the promise of innovative features and a renewed commitment to quality, the upcoming HOYTS-ACE multiplex is set to redefine movie-going in Morley, ensuring that the magic of cinema continues to thrive in the heart of the community.
