LG has announced a groundbreaking new lineup of gaming monitors just ahead of the CES 2026 event, introducing the UltraGear Evo series featuring advanced 5K AI upscaling technology. This innovative range includes OLED, MiniLED, and ultra-wide formats, represented by three flagship models: the 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and 52G930B.

The smallest of the lineup, the 27-inch 27GM950B, is set to become the world’s first 5K New MiniLED display. LG highlights its improved blooming control, which minimizes halo effects—a common issue with MiniLED panels. This model also incorporates ‘Zero Optical Distance’ technology to reduce the gap between LEDs and the panel, featuring 2,304 local dimming zones for enhanced contrast and vivid brightness up to 1,250 nits.

Innovative Features and Technology

The UltraGear Evo 27GM950B boasts a 1ms GtG response time and a 165Hz refresh rate at 5K resolution, with the capability to scale up to 330Hz at a lower QHD resolution. Meanwhile, the 39GX950B offers a 39-inch curved OLED panel with 5K2K resolution in a 21:9 ultrawide format. This model features a 1500R curve and LG’s Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology, promising improved brightness, color accuracy, and panel longevity.

The OLED panel delivers deep blacks and vibrant colors, with a DualMode switch that offers refresh options of 165Hz at 5K2K and 330Hz at WFHD, alongside a rapid 0.03ms (GtG) response time. Both the 27GM950B and 39GX950B models utilize a new on-device AI solution. According to LG, “the monitor analyzes and enhances content in real time before it reaches the panel, delivering 5K-class clarity without requiring GPU upgrades.”

AI and Immersive Experience

LG’s on-device AI extends beyond 5K upscaling with AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound, enhancing image and audio performance for a more immersive experience. Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, stated,

“The new UltraGear Evo marks a definitive turning point, signaling the end of compromises in gaming display performance. With innovations like industry-first 5K AI Upscaling, the lineup ensures that whether gamers prefer perfect blacks, unmatched brightness, or expansive scale, they can enjoy the same high standard of performance, clarity, and immersion in high resolution.”

Expanding the Gaming Horizon

The largest model in the new series, the 52G930B, is launched as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. Although it does not feature the AI capabilities of the 27-inch and 39-inch displays, its sheer size offers a 5K2K resolution at 240Hz, essential for consistent in-game response. The 52-inch display features a 1000R curve, providing a vertical viewing height equivalent to a 42-inch display and can expand into a 12:9 panoramic view, which LG claims is 33% wider than a standard 16:9 UHD monitor.

The LG UltraGear Evo lineup will be showcased at CES 2026, where attendees can experience the high-quality visuals through two distinct zones: the “Dream Setup,” inspired by Reddit’s gaming communities, and a SimCraft-powered racing simulation featuring the new 39-inch GX9.

Market Launch and Future Prospects

In addition to the Evo series, LG will commence global sales of the UltraGear™ GX7 (27GX790B) on the opening day of CES 2026. This 27-inch gaming monitor features a QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display, a 540Hz refresh rate, and Dual Mode (HD 720Hz), designed to meet the high expectations of avid gamers.

The introduction of the UltraGear Evo lineup underscores LG’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of gaming display technology. As the industry continues to evolve, these advancements not only cater to the demands of the gaming community but also set a new standard for high-resolution technology in various sectors, including B2B solutions like medical monitors.
