New HOYTS Morley
Morley’s Galleria is poised to reclaim its cinematic allure as HOYTS Australia & New Zealand partners with ACE Cinemas to launch a state-of-the-art multiplex in Perth’s north-east. This announcement follows the closure of Greater Union Cinemas, which had been a staple in the Galleria complex for over three decades.
The closure in September sparked widespread speculation among locals, many of whom anticipated that the cinema would soon find a new operator. Their predictions have proven accurate, as the new cinema development is slated to commence in 2026, coinciding with Galleria’s ambitious $240 million redevelopment plan.
A New Era of Entertainment
The collaboration between HOYTS and ACE Cinemas promises to deliver an unparalleled movie-going experience. The new multiplex will feature luxurious recliners, enhancing comfort for audiences eager to enjoy the latest films. Additionally, the foyer and candy bar are set for a significant upgrade, bringing HOYTS’ renowned Treat City closer to the City of Bayswater community.
Morley’s new venue will also be the fourth in Western Australia to incorporate D-BOX motion recliners, offering an immersive experience where seats move and vibrate in sync with the on-screen action. This innovation underscores the commitment of both companies to providing cutting-edge entertainment options.
Expanding Cinematic Horizons
The Morley location will mark the 11th HOYTS cinema in Western Australia, following the recent opening of ACE HOYTS Midland Gate in late 2023. Since 2020, HOYTS has expanded its footprint with nine new cinemas across Australia, reflecting a strategic push to enhance its presence and offerings.
HOYTS Group President Damian Keogh expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, stating,
“Cinemas are a vital part of the community and provide entertainment for Australians of all ages — customers now expect the very best standards and Morley will deliver that.”
He emphasized the company’s commitment to bringing innovative entertainment to Perth’s northeast suburbs.
Community and Industry Reactions
ACE Cinemas General Manager Jeremy Pye shared his excitement about the collaboration, noting the historical significance of maintaining a cinema presence in Morley. “There has been a cinema at this location for 30 years, so we are extremely proud to be keeping the movie magic alive by working with HOYTS to revamp this space and make it the premier cinema offering for local moviegoers,” he said.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from the local community, which has long valued the role of cinemas as cultural and social hubs. The redevelopment is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic activity in the area, benefiting local businesses and residents alike.
Looking Ahead
The new HOYTS cinema is anticipated to open its doors in late 2026, promising to deliver a revitalized entertainment experience to Morley and its surrounding suburbs. As the project unfolds, it will be closely watched by industry analysts and cinema enthusiasts eager to see how this partnership shapes the future of movie-going in Western Australia.
With the integration of advanced technology and a focus on customer comfort, the HOYTS-ACE collaboration is set to redefine the cinematic landscape in Morley, ensuring that the magic of the movies continues to captivate audiences for years to come.
