Genesis has unveiled its 2026 G80 sedan lineup, highlighted by the introduction of a striking Black edition. This new addition to the Genesis family aims to rival the BMW 5 Series with its comprehensive black-themed design, extending beyond mere aesthetics to include detailed interior enhancements.

The 2026 G80 lineup is now available, starting at an unchanged price of $104,200 before on-road costs for the base turbocharged four-cylinder petrol variant, now known as the 2.5T Signature. Despite the name change, this variant maintains its previous level of equipment. Meanwhile, the 3.5T Signature Sport sees a price increase to $127,200, incorporating the previously optional Sport Package as standard.

The Black Edition: A New Standard in Luxury

Unlike typical black editions that often involve minimal changes, Genesis has gone to great lengths to ensure the G80 Black stands out. The Black edition is priced at $125,200 before on-road costs, reflecting its unique offerings. However, it does not include the Sport Package features like rear-wheel steering and an electronic limited-slip rear differential, which are present in the 3.5T Signature Sport.

Genesis Australia has also discontinued the rear-seat entertainment package, citing a low uptake rate of under five percent. This package previously included dual 14.6-inch displays with USB-C and HDMI outlets for streaming services.

Pricing and Specifications

Drivetrains and Efficiency

The G80 lineup offers two petrol engines, catering to diverse driving preferences. The static pricing for 2026 follows previous hikes for the 2025 model year, which included a facelift, technology upgrades, and the standardization of the Luxury Package for the 2.5T variant.

Servicing and Warranty

Genesis backs the G80 with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. This coverage applies to privately used vehicles and includes five years of complimentary Genesis to You, a valet service that collects the car for servicing and provides a temporary replacement. The service is available within a 70km radius of Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane CBDs.

Additionally, the first five years or 75,000km of servicing is complimentary, with intervals set at 12 months or 15,000km. Genesis extends roadside assistance to ten years if the vehicle is serviced within their network.

Safety Features

The four-cylinder Genesis G80 models boast a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on Euro NCAP testing, with scores of 91 percent for adult occupant protection and 86 percent for child occupant protection. Other variants remain unrated.

Standard safety equipment includes:

  • Adaptive cruise control with navigation and machine learning
  • Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Junction turning and crossing assist
  • Blind-spot assist and Blind Spot View Monitor
  • Highway Driving Assist 2 and Lane Following Assist 2
  • Surround-view camera and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • 10 airbags, including front, front-centre, and driver’s knee airbags

Standard and Exclusive Equipment

The G80 lineup offers three variants, each with distinct features. The 2.5T Signature comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, and a 27-inch OLED display, among other luxuries. The Black edition builds upon this with exclusive black-themed enhancements, including a black grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, and unique interior finishes.

The 3.5T Signature Sport adds further performance-oriented features such as rear-wheel steering and a sport-tuned suspension. All G80 models include a five-year Genesis Connected Services subscription, offering live traffic updates, vehicle diagnostics, and remote vehicle control via a smartphone app.

Color Options and Interior Customization

The G80 Black is exclusively available in Vik Black with an Obsidian Black interior. Other variants offer a range of exterior colors, including Uyuni White, Savile Silver, and Hallasan Green, with matte finishes available for an additional cost. Interior colorways vary, allowing for personalized combinations of inlays and stitching colors.

As Genesis continues to expand its G80 lineup, the introduction of the Black edition marks a significant step in its strategy to compete with established luxury brands. With its focus on comprehensive design and advanced technology, the G80 Black is poised to attract discerning buyers seeking a blend of style and substance.
