In a seamless transition that underscores the enduring legacy of family-run businesses, Daniel and Rebekah Guszlovan have taken over the reins of a beloved car shop on Townsend Street in South Albury. This change marks the third generational handover for the business, now rebranded as D&B Automotive, a nod to the couple’s initials.
The Guszlovans’ takeover from Oliver and Andrea Entrop, who themselves inherited the business from Garry and Jenni Payne, ensures that the shop remains a family affair. “We’re going to try to keep everything exactly the same, so it’s the same family business people feel comfortable with, no drastic changes besides the name,” Daniel Guszlovan assured loyal customers.
A Legacy of Trust and Community
Originally known as Twin City Auto Repairs, the shop has served the Border community for over 40 years. Under the stewardship of the Entrops, the business thrived, building a loyal customer base that often saw families returning generation after generation. The Entrops, who became proud Australian citizens during their tenure, expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support.
“We can’t ask for a better customer base; it was a brilliant time,” Oliver Entrop reflected, noting the unwavering support through both prosperous and challenging times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Entrops’ journey to Australia began in 2012 when they moved from Germany, drawn by the opportunities in Albury-Wodonga. Their story is one of hard work and dedication, culminating in a successful business that they are now passing on to the Guszlovans.
New Beginnings with Deep Roots
Daniel Guszlovan’s journey to business ownership is marked by extensive experience in the automotive industry. Having moved to the Border from Melbourne nine years ago, he managed several garages, including a stint at Pedders in Albury. His background with European motors, gained through roles at Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, makes him a fitting successor to the Entrops.
Rebekah Guszlovan complements her husband’s expertise with her own experience in the automotive sector, having worked in car parts for six years. She now manages the front-of-house operations at D&B Automotive, ensuring continuity in customer service.
The handover took place on December 5, 2025, and the transition has been smooth. “Customers have been really good, they’ve taken well to the change,” Daniel Guszlovan noted, highlighting the community’s acceptance of the new leadership.
Looking Ahead
The Guszlovans are committed to maintaining the high standards set by their predecessors while infusing their own passion and energy into the business. Their vision is to continue providing quality service without altering the core values that have defined the shop for decades.
Meanwhile, the Entrops are looking forward to new adventures, confident that their legacy is in capable hands. Their story, from newcomers to established business owners, reflects the broader narrative of opportunity and success in Australia.
“Our view is when you work hard, you can still make it in Australia, and we think it’s great,” Oliver Entrop said, encapsulating the spirit of determination and community that has characterized their journey.
As D&B Automotive embarks on this new chapter, the Guszlovans are poised to uphold the tradition of excellence and community engagement that has been the hallmark of the business for over four decades.
