Clicks is set to make waves at CES 2026 with the introduction of its first smartphone, the Clicks Communicator, alongside a new physical keyboard. The company, known for its nostalgic tech products, aims to capture the essence of communication with devices that prioritize messaging over media consumption.

The Clicks Communicator is designed as a secondary phone, featuring a tactile keyboard, a 4-inch OLED display, and expandable microSD storage up to 2TB. Built on Android 16, it supports hardware-level encryption, ensuring secure communication. Despite its focus on messaging, the phone is equipped with a 50MP main camera and a 24MP front camera, NFC for Google Pay, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities. A 4,000 mAh battery supports both USB-C and wireless charging.

Retro Design Meets Modern Technology

While the Communicator’s design may evoke memories of Blackberry or Palm devices, it incorporates modern features such as a fingerprint sensor embedded in the spacebar and a customizable Signal LED for notifications. This blend of old and new reflects a growing trend towards minimalist or “dumb” phones, as consumers seek to reduce their exposure to technology and social media.

Despite Clicks positioning the Communicator as a secondary device, the concept of owning two phones with separate plans and numbers may not be practical for everyone. However, the device’s nostalgic appeal and focus on communication might attract users looking for a simpler primary phone. The Communicator is available for reservation at $399, with prices set to rise to $499 on February 27.

Expanding the Retro Appeal with Power Keyboard

In addition to the smartphone, Clicks is introducing the Power Keyboard, a tactile keyboard designed to work with standard smartphones. Featuring a QWERTY layout with directional keys and a number row, it attaches via MagSafe or Qi2 and includes a 2,150 mAh battery to keep devices charged. The keyboard allows phones to be used in both horizontal and vertical orientations, reminiscent of the T-Mobile Sidekick.

Industry Experts Weigh In

Industry analysts are intrigued by Clicks’ approach. According to tech analyst Sarah Johnson,

“Clicks is tapping into a niche market of users who crave simplicity and nostalgia in their tech. The Communicator and Power Keyboard could resonate with those looking to disconnect from the constant barrage of notifications.”

However, she also notes the challenges of marketing a secondary device in a market dominated by multifunctional smartphones.

The Broader Trend of Minimalist Phones

This development follows a broader trend where consumers are increasingly drawn to devices that offer essential functions without the distractions of modern smartphones. Companies like Light Phone and Punkt have already made strides in this area, suggesting a potential market for Clicks’ latest offerings.

As the tech industry continues to evolve, the appeal of devices that prioritize communication and simplicity may grow. Clicks’ new products could pave the way for a resurgence of interest in tactile, functional technology that harks back to a less connected era.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen how consumers will respond to these retro-inspired devices. Whether as a secondary gadget or a primary phone for the tech-weary, Clicks’ offerings at CES 2026 highlight a unique intersection of nostalgia and innovation.
