In a significant advancement for electric vehicles, Chery has unveiled updated specifications for its 2026 Exeed Exlantix ES electric sedan. Announced by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the new model boasts a powerful 97.682 kWh battery pack, offering two impressive range options of 835 km and 860 km, contingent on configuration and tire size. However, specific testing conditions for these figures were not disclosed.
The announcement comes as Chery continues to innovate in the electric vehicle market. The current Exlantix ES EV, which launched in May 2025, offers three trims with CLTC ranges between 705 km and 710 km, priced from 189,800 to 269,800 yuan (approximately 26,660 to 37,950 USD).
Design and Features
Retaining its mid-to-large sedan dimensions, the Exlantix ES EV measures 4,945 mm in length, 1,978 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height (1,467 mm for some trims), with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The exterior has been updated with a closed front grille, slim full-width LED headlights, and a rear light bar integrated with the bumper. Higher trims are equipped with ISD interactive lighting and an electric rear spoiler, adding to the vehicle’s modern aesthetic.
Inside, the sedan features an 8.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, the cabin supports the Lion AI voice assistant, Huawei HiCar, and Apple CarPlay. The dual-spoke steering wheel includes touch-sensitive controls and heating functions, enhancing driver comfort and convenience.
Advanced Technology and Performance
Advanced driver assistance systems are a focal point of the updated model. Select trims, including the Max and Ultra variants, feature roof-mounted LiDAR and the Falcon driver-assist system. This is supported by 30 high-performance sensors and dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin X chips, delivering 508 TOPS of computing power. This technology enables end-to-end urban and highway assisted driving, as well as full-scene parking assistance.
The current Exlantix ES EV lineup includes both single- and dual-motor variants. The single-motor version produces 230 kW, utilizing a 77 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery to achieve a 705 km CLTC range. In contrast, the dual-motor model delivers 353 kW with a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery, resulting in a 710 km range. Top trims are further equipped with CDC electromagnetic damping and IAS air suspension, offering a smoother ride.
Market Position and Competition
Positioned as a mid-to-large electric sedan, the Exlantix ES competes with models such as the Xiaomi SU7, priced between 215,900 and 299,900 yuan (approximately 30,300 to 42,100 USD), and the BYD Han L EV, priced from 219,800 to 279,800 yuan (approximately 30,900 to 39,260 USD). According to recent sales data, Exeed sold 557 Exlantix ES units in September 2025, reflecting a growing interest in the model.
Chery has yet to confirm pricing and launch details for the new extended-range model, leaving enthusiasts eagerly awaiting further announcements.
Implications for the Electric Vehicle Market
The move represents a significant step forward in the electric vehicle sector, as manufacturers continue to push the boundaries of range and technology. With increasing competition from domestic and international brands, Chery’s latest offering could set a new benchmark for electric sedans in terms of performance and technological integration.
As the industry progresses, the focus on extended range, advanced driver assistance, and enhanced user experience will likely become key differentiators in the market. Chery’s commitment to innovation and quality positions it well to capture a significant share of the growing electric vehicle market.
Looking ahead, the automotive industry will be watching closely to see how Chery’s latest model performs in the market and whether it can meet the high expectations set by its impressive specifications.
