The BTS comeback is finally upon us. The globally renowned K-pop group has announced their return to the stage with a series of performances scheduled in Australia for 2027. This marks their first major tour Down Under since the Wings Tour in 2017. The septet will perform in Melbourne on February 12 and 13, followed by shows in Sydney on February 20 and 21.
The announcement comes as part of a larger world tour revealed by BTS on Wednesday, which will span from April 2026 through March 2027. The tour includes over 70 shows across Asia, North America, South America, Australia, and Europe. This marks the group’s first headline performances since their 2021 to 2022 Permission to Dance on Stage tour, after which they embarked on a nearly four-year hiatus.
Return After Military Service
The news of the tour follows the recent completion of mandatory military service by all seven members of BTS. The group, consisting of RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jung Kook, and j-hope, had been on hiatus since 2022 to fulfill this national duty. Rapper Suga was the last to be released from his duties in June 2025, serving as a social service agent due to a shoulder injury.
During their hiatus, each member pursued solo projects, achieving significant success and maintaining their global fanbase. The anticipation for their return has been building, with fans eagerly awaiting new music and performances.
New Music and Fan Engagement
According to sources close to the group, BTS has been working on new music since July, aiming to produce an album that reflects each member’s personal thoughts and creative ideas. “We’ve waited more earnestly than anyone else,” RM stated at the beginning of the year, with V adding, “In 2026, we’ll make even more good memories, so look forward to it.”
Fans, known as the ARMY, will have the opportunity to participate in a presale on January 22 and 23 through the Weverse platform, a fan engagement tool owned by BTS’s management company, HYBE. A general sale for all regions will commence on January 24.
BTS’s Global Impact
BTS, formed in 2010 by Big Hit Entertainment (now BigHit Music, a label under HYBE), has become one of the best-selling and most widely recognized K-Pop groups worldwide. Their debut single, “2 Cool 4 Skool,” was released in 2013, followed by the album “Dark & Wild” in 2014. Since then, they have released nine studio albums and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
The group has broken 25 Guinness World Records, including being the most streamed group act on Spotify, and has charted four No.1 albums faster than any group since the Beatles. Their multilingual music, which blends Korean, English, and Japanese, along with a fusion of pop, rap, and hip-hop, has attracted a diverse global audience.
BTS met with former US president Joe Biden in 2022 to discuss anti-Asian hate crimes, highlighting their influence beyond music.
Looking Ahead
The return of BTS is set to be a major event in the music world, with fans and industry experts alike eager to see what the group will bring to the stage after their hiatus. The tour represents not only a comeback for BTS but also a significant moment for K-pop on the global stage.
As the group prepares to embark on this extensive tour, the anticipation continues to build. With new music on the horizon and a renewed energy, BTS is poised to once again capture the hearts of millions worldwide.
For fans and industry observers, the next steps include watching for the release of new music and the unfolding of the tour, which promises to be a landmark event in the world of entertainment.
