The Australian music industry’s most anticipated event, the ARIA Awards 2025, is currently underway, with stars beginning to grace the red carpet. The event, broadcast live on Paramount+ from 5 PM AEDT, promises a night filled with glamour, excitement, and recognition of musical excellence. For those without access to the streaming service, Channel 10 will air the ceremony later tonight, following the conclusion of “Big Brother.”

Among the highlights of this year’s ceremony is the return of singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, who was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame last year. Higgins is nominated in a major category for her sixth album, The Second Act. Released exactly 20 years after her debut, The Sound Of White, this album explores the emotional landscape of her recent divorce, offering a poignant reflection on love and parenting.

Celebrating Legends: You Am I’s Hall of Fame Induction

Tonight’s ceremony will also see the beloved Aussie alternative rock band You Am I inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Formed in 1989, the band has made significant contributions to the Australian music scene with albums like Hi Fi Way, Hourly, Daily, and #4 Record. Their track ‘Berlin Chair’ was recently ranked at #81 on triple j’s Hottest 100 of Australian Songs.

You Am I’s induction marks a significant milestone as they become the first band from the 90s alternative rock era to enter the Hall of Fame, following the induction of 2000s rockers Jet in 2023. The band’s enduring legacy is underscored by their ten ARIA Awards and continued success, with their latest album, The Lives of Others, peaking at #2 on the ARIA album chart in 2021.

Spotlight on the Nominees

This year’s ARIA nominations showcase the diversity and strength of the Australian music industry. Leading the pack is Central Coast producer Ninajirachi, with eight nominations for her debut album I Love My Computer. Her work is recognized in major categories, including Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist.

Close behind is DJ and producer Dom Dolla, with seven nominations. Known for his global appeal, Dolla is competing for Best Solo Artist, Best Australian Live Act, and several other categories. He remains a strong contender in the Best Dance/Electronic Release category, a title he has claimed three times previously.

Amyl and the Sniffers, another standout act, have garnered six nominations for their third album, reflecting their phenomenal year in music. The band’s energetic performances and unique style continue to captivate audiences both locally and internationally.
