CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA — In a significant move to cater to both everyday users and top-tier professionals, Apple has launched two new displays: the Studio Display and the Studio Display XDR. Announced today, these displays are designed to seamlessly integrate with Mac systems, offering a range of features that include advanced camera technology, superior audio systems, and cutting-edge connectivity options.

The Studio Display features a 12MP Center Stage camera, a three-microphone array, and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. It also boasts Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, enhancing its compatibility with high-speed accessories. Meanwhile, the Studio Display XDR elevates the professional display experience with a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR display, mini-LED backlighting, and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for high-end workflows such as filmmaking and 3D animation.

Features and Specifications

The Studio Display is tailored to provide an exceptional visual experience with its 27-inch 5K Retina display, offering over 14 million pixels and 600 nits of brightness. It includes a P3 wide color gamut for true-to-life imagery, making it suitable for tasks ranging from photo and video editing to music production and coding.

In addition to its visual capabilities, the Studio Display is equipped with a 12MP Center Stage camera, which now supports Desk View, and a studio-quality microphone array. Its sound system includes four force-cancelling woofers and two high-performance tweeters, delivering immersive audio with 30% deeper bass than previous models.

The Studio Display XDR, on the other hand, offers a more advanced setup with a mini-LED backlight featuring over 2,000 local dimming zones. This technology allows for a peak HDR brightness of 2000 nits and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, ensuring vivid and accurate color representation. The display supports both P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, making it a versatile tool for professionals who require precise color grading.

Enhanced Connectivity and Design

Both displays are equipped with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, allowing users to daisy-chain multiple displays or connect high-speed peripherals. The Studio Display XDR also acts as a Thunderbolt hub, offering up to 140W of charging power, sufficient to fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Design-wise, the Studio Display family offers flexibility with tilt-adjustable and height-adjustable stands, as well as VESA mount options for customized setups. The Studio Display XDR’s stand features a counterbalancing arm that maintains stability and ease of adjustment.

Environmental Considerations

Apple continues its commitment to sustainability with the Studio Display family. Both models incorporate recycled materials, including 100% recycled aluminum in the stands and 80% recycled glass in the standard glass options. The displays are designed to be durable and repairable, aligning with Apple’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. The packaging is also environmentally friendly, being 100% fiber-based and easily recyclable.
