Fox Sports NRL presenter Yvonne Sampson and her husband, former Channel Nine star Chris O’Keefe, have announced the arrival of their baby boy, Darby Morris O’Keefe. The couple shared the joyous news over the weekend with a heartfelt Instagram post featuring their newborn son.
“Welcome Darby Morris O’Keefe,” Sampson captioned the family photo, which quickly garnered congratulations from friends, family, and fans alike. Notable well-wishers included Nine star Deb Knight, who commented, “Beautiful – huge congrats!” and announcer Glen Hawke, who added, “Congrats, Vonnie and Chris x.”
Family and Friends Celebrate
The couple’s announcement was met with an outpouring of support. Nine presenter Kate Creedon remarked, “Congratulations guys! He’s adorable!” The couple, who are already parents to two-year-old Henry, had kept their pregnancy under wraps until June, when O’Keefe revealed the news to News Corp.
“Vonny, Henry and I are expecting another little addition,” O’Keefe shared. “Henry’s about to be promoted to big brother and we’re absolutely thrilled. Chaos incoming.”
Behind the Scenes of the Announcement
O’Keefe recounted how some of Sampson’s colleagues began to suspect the pregnancy during the NRL’s season-opening matches in Las Vegas. “Let’s just say when Vonny locked herself in her hotel room in Vegas for round one, a few of her colleagues started to suspect something was up,” he explained. “But we managed to keep it quiet; it’s important to us to keep our private life private.”
The couple, who married in 2018, first met in the Channel Nine Brisbane newsroom, where they both worked. Their relationship blossomed from there, leading to an engagement announcement in 2017.
A Growing Family
As they adjust to life as a family of four, O’Keefe expressed admiration for Sampson’s role as a mother. “She’s an extraordinary mum. She is not just the heart of our home, but the brains, legs, arms, and everything else too,” he said. “I’m honestly just trying to keep up. Henry absolutely adores Vonny, watching them together fills me with so much happiness.”
O’Keefe, a passionate supporter of the St. George Illawarra Dragons, confirmed that their newest addition would follow in the family’s sporting footsteps. “Henry had his Red V membership before he had a Medicare card, this will be no different,” he noted. “It’s important they build some character through long stretches of extreme disappointment.”
The Journey Ahead
The couple’s journey from newsroom colleagues to proud parents is a testament to their strong partnership and shared values. As they embrace the challenges and joys of raising two young children, Sampson and O’Keefe remain committed to maintaining a balance between their public personas and private lives.
With their latest addition, the O’Keefe family embarks on a new chapter, filled with the promise of cherished memories and family traditions. As they navigate this exciting time, their story continues to inspire and resonate with fans and followers across the nation.
