Samsung Australia has unveiled the pricing and availability of its latest innovation, the Premiere 5 projector, marking a significant addition to its 2025 projector line-up. Priced at AUD $2,999, this interactive triple-laser ultra-short-throw projector is now available through Samsung’s Online Store and major retailers, including Harvey Norman.

The announcement comes as Samsung continues to expand its footprint in the premium home entertainment market, offering consumers a blend of cutting-edge technology and user-centric design.

Features and Functionality

The Premiere 5 is tailored for home use, boasting interactive touch floor projection capabilities when mounted on a dedicated stand. This feature allows users to transform a table or floor into an interactive screen up to 20 inches, suitable for smartphone games, art, and films. Without the stand, the projector can display vivid content on screens ranging from 40 to 100 inches, thanks to its ultra-short-throw design.

Equipped with an infrared camera and laser module, the stand facilitates these interactive features. According to Samsung,

“The Premiere 5 can transform the table or the floor it is being projected on into an interactive touch screen, enabling the family to engage in smartphone games, art, movies and more in up to 20-inches.”

Running on Samsung’s SmartThings platform, the projector offers access to Samsung TV Plus, Gaming Hub, Q-Symphony, and Custom Ambient Mode. Its MultiView and web browser capabilities extend its utility beyond entertainment to educational and business applications.

Design and Setup

Designed with portability and seamless integration in mind, the compact form of The Premiere 5 allows it to fit effortlessly into various home settings. Its ultra-short-throw capability enables it to project large images from as close as 12cm from a wall, simplifying setup in confined spaces. The process is further eased by features like auto keystone and auto-focus.

Smartphone integration is seamless via the SmartThings app or Apple AirPlay 2, allowing users to mirror content from compatible devices. Samsung states,

“Seamless smartphone integration allows Australians to simply mirror content from the handheld device via SmartThings or Apple AirPlay 2 so the family can enjoy the content on a bigger screen.”

Display and Audio

At the heart of the projector is Samsung’s triple-laser technology, designed to deliver a broad spectrum of colors and high contrast with minimal blur. The built-in Vision Booster automatically adjusts color, contrast, and brightness based on ambient light conditions, making it suitable for rooms with varying lighting.

Audio is delivered through a 10W 2-channel integrated speaker system, with Q-Symphony enabling synchronization with compatible Samsung soundbars. The Premiere 5 can also function as a standalone wireless speaker, offering audio via Bluetooth or music casting, with support for various streaming services.

Smart Features and Market Positioning

Beyond entertainment, The Premiere 5 serves as a hub for connected home functionality through SmartThings, allowing users to monitor electricity usage, control lighting, and receive notifications from appliances. It also provides access to over 300 free channels via Samsung TV Plus and features a Gaming Hub for low-latency gaming experiences.

Simon Howe, Director – Audio Visual at Samsung Australia, emphasized the projector’s versatility, stating,

“The Premiere 5 is designed to go beyond content to deliver immersive, engaging and memorable experiences that bring people together or support productivity in new ways.”

The Premiere 5 joins Samsung’s broader 2025 projector range, which includes The Premiere 7, The Premiere 9, and The Freestyle. This release underscores Samsung’s commitment to enhancing its presence in the premium home projector segment, offering features tailored to both entertainment and productivity in domestic settings.

As the market for home entertainment technology continues to evolve, Samsung’s latest offering reflects a growing trend towards multifunctional devices that cater to diverse consumer needs. The Premiere 5, with its blend of interactive features and high-quality display, is poised to capture the attention of tech-savvy Australians seeking to elevate their home entertainment experience.
