LONDON— Singapore Airlines (SQ) is set to significantly enhance its operations at London Gatwick Airport (LGW) during the summer 2026 season, with plans to introduce up to double daily flights on the long-haul route from Singapore (SIN). This strategic move reflects a robust passenger demand and signifies one of the most rapid capacity expansions on a relatively new European route.
The airline’s decision to boost frequencies between Singapore and Gatwick during the peak travel period will complement its already extensive services at London Heathrow (LHR). This expansion will increase the total number of London-bound flights to as many as six daily, underscoring Singapore Airlines’ strong commitment to the UK market.
Doubling Down on London Gatwick
According to aviation industry insights from Mainly Miles, Singapore Airlines will introduce additional services between March 31 and October 24, 2026. Initially, the airline will operate three times weekly, gradually increasing to daily frequencies during the peak months of July and August, before scaling back toward the end of the summer season.
These supplementary flights will operate alongside the existing daily Gatwick service, effectively doubling frequencies during the busiest months. The schedule is a strategic response to seasonal demand, particularly during the bustling European summer travel period.
The new services will depart Singapore in the early morning hours, arriving in London the same morning, offering convenient arrival times for both leisure and business travelers. Return flights from Gatwick will depart around midday, reaching Singapore the following day.
Aircraft and Passenger Experience
Singapore Airlines will deploy its Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft on all Gatwick services. The aircraft features a three-class configuration with 42 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 187 Economy Class seats. Passengers will experience a consistent onboard product across both daily flights, as the aircraft does not include First Class or Suites cabins. However, the airline maintains its premium service standards with modern seating and inflight entertainment systems.
In a bid to further enhance the passenger experience, the airline is preparing to introduce new Business Class products on its A350 fleet starting in 2026. While Gatwick is not confirmed as an initial route for the upgrade, its growing importance makes it a potential candidate in the future.
