Swiss singer and producer DJ BoBo is set to embark on a thrilling new tour titled “The Great Adventure,” which will see him perform in 28 European cities starting May 1, 2026. Known for his electrifying performances and innovative stage setups, DJ BoBo is once again breaking new ground by incorporating Sennheiser’s cutting-edge Spectera wideband system into his shows.
The tour’s premiere took place at Europa-Park Rust, where DJ BoBo traditionally debuts his new shows. His technical crew, including Andre Mussong (Front of House), Benni Mengler (monitors), and Jens Bublitz (backline), utilized the opportunity to test Sennheiser’s Spectera system, which promises enhanced audio quality and seamless frequency coordination.
Revolutionizing Live Performances with Spectera
DJ BoBo’s technical team first learned about the Spectera system through their Sennheiser contact, Chris Kopp. The rehearsals in Rust provided an ideal setting to transition to Spectera as an in-ear monitoring (IEM) system. Benni Mengler, responsible for monitoring, was impressed by the system’s quick setup and superior audio quality.
“Everyone on stage uses Spectera SEKs – dancers, gymnasts, singers, and band. We are running 26 Spectera SEKs as IEM receivers, and one additional SEK as a line transmitter for the acoustic guitar,” Mengler explained.
Jens Bublitz noted the improvement in RF signal transmission with Spectera, especially compared to previous systems that experienced connection issues. The setup now includes three DAD antennas strategically placed to cover both A and B stages effectively.
Technical Innovations and Challenges
Mengler manages 12 stereo IEM mixes through a single wideband channel, using “Live Low Latency” mode for the band and singers, while dancers and crew operate on “Live” mode. This setup maximizes the Base Station’s capabilities, utilizing a center frequency of 490 MHz.
“The most important thing for me is the fast way to scan, set the center frequency, and then all SEKs get into the new setup just by switching them on,” Mengler stated, highlighting the system’s user-friendly interface.
To avoid interference between digital and analog equipment, Mengler ensured proper distancing between devices. This meticulous attention to detail ensures a smooth and interference-free performance.
Enhanced Audio Experience for Performers
The integration of Spectera with a KLANG immersive IEM processor has transformed the listening experience for the band. Mengler and Bublitz both emphasized the system’s ability to maintain high sound quality over extended periods, contributing to a more relaxed and focused performance environment.
“Spectera is an absolute new starting point for RF transmission techniques in live entertainment,” Andre Mussong, the FoH engineer, remarked. “It gives artists more trust in what they hear, allowing them to perform better.”
For ambience, Mengler employs a combination of shotgun and cardioid microphones to capture the full spectrum of stage sounds, while the drumkit is equipped with a variety of Sennheiser mics to ensure optimal audio capture.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Live Sound
As DJ BoBo prepares to take “The Great Adventure” across Europe, the integration of Sennheiser’s Spectera system marks a significant advancement in live sound technology. The ability to consolidate multiple audio functions into a single device not only streamlines the technical setup but also enhances the overall performance quality.
With a focus on innovation and quality, DJ BoBo’s tour is set to deliver an unforgettable experience for audiences across Europe. For more information on tour dates and locations, visit DJ BoBo’s official website.
