By exercising options for 34 additional aircraft, Delta is on track to make the A321neo the largest aircraft type in its fleet history. The newly ordered aircraft are set to begin arriving in 2029, bringing Delta’s total A321neo fleet to 189. Having first introduced the A321neo to its operations in 2022, Delta currently operates 92 of these aircraft, with 97 more already on order. This expansion reflects Delta’s strategy to maintain flexibility and meet future network demands.
Soaring to New Heights with the A321neo

The latest batch of A321neo aircraft is slated for delivery starting in 2029. These planes will play a critical role in Delta’s premium strategy, offering more Delta First and Delta Comfort seats than any other narrowbody aircraft in the fleet. This configuration aims to attract premium-focused travelers on both domestic and short-haul international routes.
Delta’s analysis shows that the A321neo consistently receives the highest onboard satisfaction scores among its narrowbody fleet. The aircraft offers the lowest operational costs and is over 25% more fuel-efficient than its predecessors. Passengers can enjoy modern amenities such as seatback entertainment, in-seat power, and larger overhead bins for convenient carry-on storage. Enhanced seating designs further contribute to passenger comfort across all cabin classes.
Supporting Future Growth with Advanced Technology
Delta’s partnership with Pratt & Whitney, spanning 90 years, continues with the new A321neo aircraft, which will be powered by the P&W GTF engines. These engines are known for their improved fuel efficiency and quieter noise profile, enhancing the overall passenger experience.
In addition to the A321neo, Delta has a robust order book that includes over 60 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, 16 A330-900, A350-900, and Airbus A350-1000 models. The airline also has more than 100 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft on order, with deliveries expected to start next year. This diverse fleet strategy positions Delta to meet a wide range of operational needs and customer preferences.
