Phu Quoc, often hailed as Asia’s ‘most beautiful island,’ is gearing up for an influx of visitors during the Tet holiday, which peaks on February 17. According to booking data from February 13-22 provided by travel platform Booking.com, Phu Quoc ranks as the second most sought-after Vietnamese destination, trailing only Da Lat.

The island has rolled out an enticing array of cultural and entertainment events to captivate tourists. These include a 2026 spring welcome extravaganza, a sports festival, and vibrant spring flower markets in Duong Dong and An Thoi. The extensive preparations underscore Phu Quoc’s commitment to offering a memorable experience for its visitors.

Thorough Preparations for Peak Season

Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Chairman of An Giang Province’s Tourism Association, emphasized that Phu Quoc has meticulously prepared for the peak travel season. With more than 95% of hotel rooms already booked, tour operators are bringing in additional staff to handle the increased demand during Tet. They are also working closely with service providers to ensure that service quality remains impeccable.

The association has advised tourism operators and sites to upgrade facilities and enhance service quality. It also encourages the offering of diverse recreational and culinary experiences, alongside promotional packages. The aim is to solidify Phu Quoc’s reputation as a safe, civilized, and welcoming destination.

Safety and Quality Assurance

To ensure a safe and enjoyable Tet holiday and early spring festival season, local authorities have issued reminders for visitors to remain vigilant against unusually cheap offers that may be scams. Tourists are strongly encouraged to book only through official apps and websites with clear legal details. It is also advised to personally reconfirm lodgings ahead of departure and rely on trusted sources, refraining from sharing unverified rumors or dubious claims.

Tourism Growth and Future Prospects

Phu Quoc reported strong tourism growth in 2025, welcoming 8.1 million visitors, including 1.8 million foreigners. The island anticipates these numbers to rise to 8.5 million visitors, with two million expected to be foreigners, this year.

“Phu Quoc has made thorough preparations for the peak travel season,” said Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, highlighting the island’s proactive measures to accommodate the surge in tourists.

This development follows a broader trend of increased interest in Vietnam as a travel destination, particularly during significant cultural events like Tet. The move represents a concerted effort by local authorities and tourism operators to capitalize on this interest while ensuring that the island remains a premier destination.

Meanwhile, Phu Quoc’s strategy includes the introduction of new and distinctive tourism products to enhance its appeal further. This approach not only aims to attract more visitors but also to provide them with unique experiences that set the island apart from other destinations.

Looking Ahead

As Phu Quoc braces for the Tet holiday, the island’s preparations and strategic planning could serve as a model for other tourist destinations looking to manage peak travel seasons effectively. By focusing on safety, quality, and unique offerings, Phu Quoc is poised to strengthen its position as a leading travel destination in Asia.

The island’s efforts to maintain high standards and innovate in its tourism offerings will likely continue to attract visitors long after the holiday season ends. As Phu Quoc looks forward to another successful year, the lessons learned during this peak period could pave the way for sustained growth and development in the future.
