With the production of the Lexus IS set to conclude in November, the luxury automaker is bidding farewell to its renowned sports sedan with the introduction of the IS500 Climax Edition. This Japan-exclusive model mirrors the North American IS500 Ultimate Edition, sharing most of its features and maintaining the legacy of the IS series.

Under the hood, the Climax Edition boasts the same naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine found in the regular IS500 F Sport Performance. This powerhouse delivers 352kW and 537Nm, channeling its might to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the performance figures remain unchanged, the Climax Edition is equipped with striking red six-pot Brembo calipers and high-friction pads that grip onto the 380mm ventilated discs, enhancing its braking prowess.

Distinctive Design and Features

The Climax Edition stands out with its low-profile Bridgestone Potenza tires, wrapped around forged 19-inch BBS alloy wheels finished in a sleek matte black. Inside, the cabin is a symphony of black and red, with the front seats upholstered in a combination of faux suede and artificial leather, providing both comfort and style. The steering wheel and gear shifter knob are adorned with perforated leather, adding a touch of luxury.

The Climax Edition will be available in Japan starting August, with production limited to just 500 units. Prices begin at ¥9.5 million (A$100,800), marking a ¥1.0 million (A$10,600) premium over the standard IS500 F Sport Performance.
