Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) has reached a significant milestone, delivering its 300,000th truck in the country to Able Constructions and Management, a family-owned business based in Victoria. This landmark delivery of the MY25 NQR 88-190 Crew Cab comes on the heels of Isuzu’s impressive 2025 sales performance and the launch of its new MY25 range.
The achievement underscores Isuzu’s 37-year streak as the leader in truck sales across Australia. Able Constructions, established 25 years ago, has been a key player in Melbourne’s development, transitioning from shop fit-outs to comprehensive projects including medical centers and high-rise buildings. The company’s decision to opt for the 8800 kg Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) NQR Crew Cab was influenced by its need for a vehicle that combines substantial load capacity with maneuverability, suitable for both expansive greenfield sites and confined urban settings.
Meeting the Needs of Modern Construction
Able Constructions’ Project Manager, known as ‘Fonz,’ emphasized the truck’s versatility. “We’ve got the longest wheelbase you can get with the crew cab,” he explained. “It was easy enough to just get a bigger truck, but being a light truck, it is a lot easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces, and the crew cab means I can bring the boys with me, and on rainy days, we can keep gear dry in the cabin. It’s the perfect tool for the job.”
The truck’s specifications, including a 4500 kg rated tow bar, align well with Able’s diverse workload and transport needs. The team has been particularly impressed by the advanced technology, likening the experience to driving an “advanced car” rather than a traditional work truck. “The Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control makes it very easy to drive. It’s like an autopilot airplane!” Fonz added, noting other features such as Advanced Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning, part of the MY25 model’s intelligent safety suite.
Isuzu’s Dominance in the Australian Market
The story of Able Constructions reflects the fit-for-purpose philosophy that has propelled Isuzu to its long-standing market leadership in Australia. According to recent industry data, the national heavy vehicle fleet is expanding at an average annual rate of 2.7%, with over 677,000 light to heavy-duty trucks registered nationally. In 2025, Isuzu captured a commanding 27.5% of the total truck market, selling 12,420 vehicles, and maintained dominance in the light-duty segment with a 50.6% share, alongside a 49% share in the medium-duty segment.
“Reaching 300,000 sales is a powerful reflection of the countless partnerships we’ve forged with hard-working Australian companies like Able Constructions,” said Craig White, Head of Sales at IAL.
White highlighted that this milestone coincides with the launch of Isuzu’s latest and most impressive product offering now available nationwide.
Innovation and Reliability at the Forefront
The Able Constructions NQR 88-190 Crew Cab is powered by Isuzu’s 5.2-litre 4HK1-TCC engine, delivering 140 kW and 513 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission. “Our all-new MY25 N Series, featuring our Euro VI compliant 4HK1 engine and comprehensive safety technology, represents the next generation of Isuzu’s commitment to reliability, innovation, and driver comfort,” White stated. “It’s this relentless focus on delivering what our customers need that secures our position at the forefront of the industry, year after year.”
For Able Constructions, the new Isuzu NQR is more than just a vehicle; it is a mobile workshop, a team transporter, and a reliable partner for the future. “I’d definitely go for an Isuzu again,” Fonz remarked. “We’re extremely happy with them… if there is another option to buy another truck, we’ll definitely be going back.”
The Road Ahead for Isuzu Trucks
As Isuzu Trucks looks to the future, this historic sale highlights the company’s successful strategy of understanding the nuanced needs of the Australian industry and providing robust, intelligent, and dependable vehicles that support businesses of all sizes in building their success stories. The move represents a continuation of Isuzu’s commitment to the Australian market, ensuring that its vehicles remain integral to the country’s economic and infrastructural growth.
