Samsung Electronics has unveiled an ambitious television roadmap through 2026, emphasizing artificial intelligence, ultra-large screens, and cutting-edge display technologies such as Micro RGB and OLED. The announcement was made during a Visual Display Deep Dive session at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, led by SW Yong, President of VD Business at Samsung Electronics.
Executives at the session highlighted a shift in the global TV market towards premium models, larger screen sizes, and more intelligent services. Samsung plans to position Micro RGB and OLED at the top of its portfolio by 2026, while mini LED models will offer broader access to premium features and superior image performance. The company aims to enhance the viewing experience with ultra-large displays across its range, targeting immersive viewing in living rooms and other spaces.
AI-Focused Platform: Vision AI Companion
Central to Samsung’s 2026 television strategy is a new artificial intelligence platform, Vision AI Companion. This intelligent layer will integrate across Samsung’s ecosystem of screens, making TV operation more intuitive and enabling new forms of interaction between viewers and their sets. Samsung intends to embed AI in more products, enhancing traditional picture quality while expanding the television’s role beyond video and gaming.
The Vision AI Companion will initially roll out in selected regions and models, with features and availability varying based on specific remote controls and local language support. Samsung’s approach aims to deepen integration with smart home functions and personalize engagement with on-screen services.
Premium Screen Push
The Deep Dive session also showcased a new 130-inch Micro RGB television, described by Samsung as a technical first for the company and positioned at the premium end of its 2026 lineup. According to Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of VD Business, rising content quality is driving expectations for more immersive viewing experiences.
“As the quality of content improves, it’s natural for users to want a higher degree of immersion,” said EVP Lee. “As we develop our products, Samsung is focusing on the tangible experiences brought by technologies like VAC, rather than just their technical specifications.”
Samsung plans to maintain OLED in the premium bracket alongside Micro RGB, using mini LED to cater to consumers seeking higher-end specifications without the highest price tags. This tiered approach responds to market trends towards larger and more feature-rich sets, while also exploring lifestyle television designs that emphasize aesthetics and flexible placement in the home.
Connected Home Role
Samsung is positioning the television as a central device in the connected home, viewing the screen as a hub for interaction with other smart devices and a primary display for entertainment. The company’s focus on hardware will continue, but with an increased emphasis on software layers, AI systems, and integration with its wider product ecosystem.
Executives linked this combined hardware and software approach to Samsung’s efforts across other categories such as smartphones, wearables, and home appliances. They predict that cross-device experiences will become more consistent as AI features and connectivity options expand.
Looking beyond 2026, Samsung plans further updates to its television portfolio and AI platform. The company is committed to refining both picture quality and intelligent functions as it seeks growth in the premium TV segment. With a legacy of hardware excellence and a forward-looking strategy, Samsung aims to extend its two-decade-long position as the top global TV brand.
