Now You See Me Live to hit Perth later this month.

In a dazzling spectacle that promises to blur the lines between cinema and live performance, magician Matthew Pomeroy is set to captivate audiences at Crown Perth Theatre with the “Now You See Me Live” show. Running from January 25 to February 1, the production draws inspiration from the popular film series, offering a high-energy experience that Pomeroy assures will leave spectators on the edge of their seats from the very start.

Speaking to PerthNow, Pomeroy, who stars as one of the Four Horsemen, emphasized the cinematic quality of the show. “You really feel like you’re watching a movie in the opening of the show,” he said. “You have an escape that is literally mind-blowing, somebody hanging from the ceiling doing an escape which could just be a show on its own. Fireworks go off, and then you get an object on stage which should not be able to fit on that stage under any circumstances. You get a full costume change, amazing card magic… and this is in the first three minutes.”

The Magic Behind the Curtain

The production, which has been touring Australia, will make its Perth debut with a lineup of international talent. Joining Pomeroy are Italian illusionist Andrew Basso, Canadian escape artist Gabriella Lester, and Spanish prodigy Pablo Canovas. Together, they form a quartet of magicians and stunt professionals, each bringing their unique skills to the stage.

Creative Producer Simon Painter expressed his excitement for the Perth audience, stating, “Now You See Me Live will make the impossible possible in front of your very eyes. Perth’s incredible Four Horsemen will push the boundaries of stage magic to the absolute edge and we can’t wait for WA audiences to experience this incredible feat!”

A Glimpse into Matthew Pomeroy’s World

Residing in Las Vegas, Pomeroy typically performs alongside his stage partner Natasha Lamb as part of The Conjurors. He noted the unparalleled quality of magicians in the entertainment hub, where one can see legends like Penn and Teller, Chris Angel, David Copperfield, and David Blaine all in one night.

Despite an intense schedule of 400 shows per year, Pomeroy acknowledges that not everything always goes according to plan. He shared anecdotes of live performances where mishaps occurred, such as his partner’s hair catching fire or tearing his tear duct during a show. Yet, the ability to adapt and continue performing is what defines a true professional.

The Magic of Audience Connection

Pomeroy’s performances have dazzled celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Sacha Baron Cohen, and even the cast of Harry Potter. However, he finds his greatest joy in performing for two very distinct demographics: children experiencing magic for the first time and elderly fans who have cherished the art form throughout their lives.

“When you get a child that’s never seen magic before, like a little six or seven-year-old who’s at their first magic show, or the opposite of that, somebody who’s 95 and has loved magic their whole life, that’s just as special and just as amazing, and it fills us with the same kind of thrill,” Pomeroy said.

Anticipation Builds for Perth Debut

As “Now You See Me Live” prepares to take the stage at Crown Theatre Perth, anticipation is building for a show that promises to deliver Hollywood-level excitement and wonder. The production’s blend of illusion, escape artistry, and theatrical flair is set to enchant audiences of all ages.
