In a significant prelude to the upcoming CES 2026, LG has introduced its latest lineup of gaming monitors, the UltraGear Evo series, which promises to revolutionize the gaming experience with advanced 5K AI upscaling technology. This new range includes various formats such as OLED, MiniLED, and ultra-wide displays, highlighted by their flagship models: the 39GX950B, 27GM950B, and 52G930B.

The UltraGear Evo series is set to captivate gamers with its cutting-edge features. At the forefront is the 27-inch 27GM950B, which LG claims will be the world’s first 5K New MiniLED display. This model addresses common MiniLED issues by minimizing halo effects through improved blooming control. The display also features ‘Zero Optical Distance’ technology, which reduces the gap between the LEDs and the panel, alongside 2,304 local dimming zones for superior contrast and a peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits.

Breakthrough in Display Technology

The 27GM950B is not just about visuals; it offers a 1ms GtG response time and a 165Hz refresh rate at 5K resolution, with the flexibility to scale up to 330Hz at a lower QHD resolution. Meanwhile, the 39GX950B, a 39-inch curved OLED panel, boasts a 5K2K resolution in a 21:9 ultrawide format, providing the vertical height of a 32-inch screen. This model includes LG’s Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology, which enhances brightness, color accuracy, and panel longevity.

Both the 27GM950B and 39GX950B models incorporate a new on-device AI solution. According to LG,

“the monitor analyzes and enhances content in real-time before it reaches the panel, delivering 5K-class clarity without requiring GPU upgrades.”

This AI extends beyond upscaling, offering AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound to refine images and audio for a more immersive experience.

Expert Opinions and Market Impact

Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, emphasized the significance of the UltraGear Evo series, stating,

“The new UltraGear Evo marks a definitive turning point, signaling the end of compromises in gaming display performance.”

He highlighted the lineup’s ability to deliver high-resolution technology to both consumer and business markets, including precision-driven B2B solutions like medical monitors.

The largest model in the series, the 52G930B, is being launched as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. Although it lacks the AI features of its smaller counterparts, the 52-inch display offers a 5K2K resolution at 240Hz, ideal for gamers seeking expansive visuals. Its 1000R curve and 12:9 panoramic view provide a viewing experience 33 percent wider than a standard 16:9 UHD monitor.

Looking Ahead to CES 2026

The UltraGear Evo lineup will be prominently featured at CES 2026, allowing visitors to experience its high-quality visuals through interactive zones. These include a “Dream Setup” inspired by Reddit’s gaming communities and a SimCraft-powered racing simulation featuring the new 39-inch GX9.

In addition to the Evo series, LG will commence global sales of the UltraGearâ„¢ GX7 (27GX790B) on the opening day of CES 2026. This 27-inch gaming monitor features a QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display with a 540Hz refresh rate and Dual Mode (HD 720Hz), meeting the high expectations of avid gamers.

As the gaming industry continues to evolve, LG’s UltraGear Evo series represents a significant leap forward in display technology, promising to enhance the gaming experience through innovative features and superior performance.
