Rotary Perth’s much-loved Vienna Pops New Year’s Eve Concert is making a grand return to The University of Western Australia this year, promising a world-class gala that aims to raise significant funds for two crucial social and health initiatives. This eagerly anticipated event invites Western Australia community members to gather at UWA’s iconic Winthrop Hall on December 31, continuing a cherished partnership between UWA and Rotary Perth.

The concert will showcase exceptional musical talent, with proceeds from Perth Rotary’s largest fundraiser directed towards supporting the Salvation Army’s programs for women and children affected by domestic violence and establishing the Barry Marshall Research Institute for Infectious Diseases. This centenary project by Rotary Perth is a tribute to Western Australia’s own Nobel Laureate, Professor Barry Marshall AC, and seeks to advance research that enhances community health.

Celebrating a Legacy of Collaboration and Philanthropy

Jill Dawson OAM, President of Perth Rotary, emphasized the enduring collaboration between Rotary Perth and UWA. “This year’s support for the planned Barry Marshall Research Institute for Infectious Diseases highlights the transformative power of philanthropy in supporting research that safeguards lives,” Mrs. Dawson stated. “The Institute will honor the legacy of Professor Barry Marshall’s groundbreaking discovery of Helicobacter pylori while empowering new generations of researchers to tackle emerging infectious diseases.”

According to Mrs. Dawson, the project reflects Rotary Perth’s commitment to improving community wellbeing and advancing research with a global reach. This initiative is poised to make a significant impact, aligning with the shared values of community, culture, and philanthropy that both organizations hold dear.

An Evening of Musical Excellence

Under the expert direction of celebrated pianist and conductor Mark Coughlan, the Vienna Pops Orchestra will guide audiences through an evening filled with uplifting classics, humor, and the much-anticipated midnight countdown. The program will also feature acclaimed local sopranos Beth Redwood and Bella Marslen, whose international profiles are rapidly growing, alongside rising star, 15-year-old Audrey Jarvis.

Guests have the option to attend an afternoon matinee or indulge in the full gala experience, culminating in a magical New Year’s finale. A limited number of VIP tickets offer an all-inclusive evening with canapés, drinks, premium seating, and the chance to mingle with the conductor and performers post-event.
