Bianca Dye, the charismatic star of The Golden Bachelor, recently shared a memorable encounter with television icon Kerri-Anne Kennerley from her 30th birthday party in 2003. Speaking to the Daily Mail at a product launch event for RoC Skincare at The Royce in Melbourne, Dye, now 52, recounted receiving a pair of boxing gloves from Kennerley, 72, along with some candid career advice.
Reflecting on her early career aspirations, Dye recalled telling Kennerley, “I want to be you. I want to do my own show.” At the time, Kennerley was a prominent figure on Australian television, hosting her own breakfast show on Nine. Her advice to Dye was straightforward: to succeed in the industry, she would need “much thicker skin.”
“She gave me a pair of boxing gloves for my 30th birthday,” Dye revealed. “I’ve still got them. She went, ‘You’re going to need these if you’re going to work in this industry.'”
Bianca Dye’s Diverse Career Path
Since that pivotal moment, Bianca Dye has carved out a varied career in the entertainment industry. Her journey has included roles as an entertainment reporter on Mornings with Kerri-Anne and appearances on shows such as Beauty and the Beast, Thank God You’re Here, Ready Steady Cook, Celebrity Dog School, Celebrity Singing Bee, and Australia’s Brainiest.
However, Dye’s most significant success has been in radio. She hosted The Nitemix Across Australia in the late 1990s and became a foundational presenter at Nova 96.9 in Sydney. Her radio career has also included stints as a breakfast presenter at i98FM, 92.5 Gold FM, 97.3 FM, and most recently, Sea FM 90.9.
Reality TV Aspirations and Missed Opportunities
During her interview, Dye also addressed rumors about her involvement in upcoming reality TV shows. Despite speculation, she confirmed that Nine has not approached her to be the first Australian Golden Bachelorette, although she expressed enthusiasm for the role.
Moreover, Dye has shown interest in participating in The Amazing Race alongside her friend, Big Brother star Regina ‘Reggie Bird’ Sorensen. “Reggie said to me, ‘Can we please apply for The Amazing Race? Can you imagine the two of us?’ We would be hilarious,” Dye quipped.
She also revealed past discussions about joining I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Nearly a decade ago, producers offered her $20,000 to be a reserve contestant in South Africa. “They offered me the reserves and I turned it down,” she admitted, joking about the missed opportunity.
Recent Ventures and Brand Collaborations
Bianca Dye recently gained attention for her participation in the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor Australia, where she was eliminated in the fifth episode. Since then, she has leveraged her popularity to secure several brand deals, including a collaboration with RoC Skincare.
At a cocktail party held at The Royce to launch RoC’s new Derm Correxion Firming Serum Stick, Dye was a guest speaker, while Real Housewives of Melbourne star Kyla Kirkpatrick hosted the event. The product is touted to “tighten the face and neck in seconds for dramatically firmer skin.”
As Bianca Dye continues to explore new opportunities in both television and brand partnerships, her journey remains a testament to resilience and adaptability in the ever-evolving entertainment landscape.
