2026-genesis-gv80-new-pricing-specs-and-features-revealed

The Genesis GV80, a staple in the luxury SUV market, has seen a significant price adjustment for 2026, marked by the reintroduction of a four-cylinder engine. This strategic move comes as Genesis aims to broaden its appeal and offer more competitive pricing in a crowded segment.

The base model of the GV80 now starts at $120,000 before on-road costs, a notable $10,000 reduction. This adjustment follows the return of the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which had been dropped in 2024. However, the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six remains absent from the lineup, as its production has ceased.

Changes in the GV80 Lineup

Despite the price drop for the base model, other variants in the GV80 lineup have seen price increases ranging from $1,500 to $1,700. The twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 variant, previously the entry-level option, is now $2,000 more expensive for 2026.

All GV80 models now carry the Signature trim name, except for the new Black flagship, which is exclusively available with the 3.5T engine. The GV80 Coupe continues to offer a unique trim level with special features, also available in Black trim.

Feature Updates and Discontinuations

One notable change is the discontinuation of the Rear Seat Entertainment Package, which previously included dual 14.7-inch rear touchscreens. However, customers can still opt for a six-seat layout featuring second-row captain’s chairs, a fixed center console, and a wireless phone charger.

The new Black editions feature a range of exclusive appointments, including eco-friendly materials like leather upholstery dyed using recycled carbon black from waste tires. These editions also introduce a Genesis-first with the implementation of Digital Key 2.0, enhancing the existing Genesis Connected Services suite in Australia.

Technological Advancements

Digital Key 2.0 utilizes near-field communication (NFC) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, allowing owners to lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine remotely using compatible smartphones or smartwatches. This feature can be stored on one device and shared with up to 15 others, functioning even without a mobile network signal.

The reintroduction of the 2.5T drivetrain is a strategic move, as it previously accounted for around 25% of local GV80 sales. Genesis Australia CEO had indicated that the new GV80 Coupe would “compensate” by contributing to 30% of overall sales for the large luxury SUV.

Sales Performance and Market Position

As of October, Genesis has delivered 165 GV80 SUVs and 72 GV80 Coupes, with the coupe-like body style achieving 30% of total GV80 sales. While prices appear to have increased since the 2022 launch, when the GV80 started at $92,000, the base 2.5T rear-wheel-drive configuration was dropped in 2024, and the $10,500 Luxury Pack became standard in 2025.

These updates follow a significant refresh last year, introducing new styling, the Coupe derivative, and a revised cabin with a 27-inch OLED display.

Comprehensive Features and Safety

The GV80 continues to offer a robust suite of safety and convenience features, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and a comprehensive airbag system. The inclusion of a 27-inch combined infotainment and instrument cluster OLED display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto ensures a modern, connected driving experience.

Genesis also provides a five-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty with complimentary scheduled servicing for the same duration or up to 50,000km. The brand’s “Genesis To You” service offers valet pickup for servicing within a 70km radius of major Australian cities.

Looking Forward

The Genesis GV80’s updates for 2026 reflect the brand’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. By reintroducing popular features and enhancing technological offerings, Genesis aims to solidify its position in the luxury SUV market. As the automotive landscape evolves, the GV80’s blend of luxury, technology, and performance positions it as a formidable competitor against established rivals like the BMW X5.

With these strategic updates, Genesis is poised to capture a larger share of the luxury SUV market, appealing to both new and returning customers with its refined offerings.
