Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has introduced a new playlist called ‘Open Moshpit’ in its beta version, offering players a fresh experience with a nod to traditional matchmaking. The playlist, now live, brings back a classic approach where skill ratings play a minimal role, allowing for a more casual gaming environment.

Treyarch, the game’s developer, announced that the beta now includes two distinct playlists: Moshpit and Open Moshpit. The latter features beloved multiplayer modes such as Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint, and Overload, appealing to both long-time fans and newcomers.

New Additions and Gameplay Enhancements

In addition to the Open Moshpit, Treyarch has rolled out patch notes detailing the introduction of Open Hardcore Moshpit and Open Search and Destroy. These modes employ the same low-skill matchmaking system, with Open Hardcore Moshpit enabling hardcore rules and Open Search and Destroy focusing on tactical Search and Destroy matches.

A new map, Blackheart, has been added to the rotation, joining existing maps such as The Forge, Cortex, Exposure, and Imprint. This expansion is complemented by an increase in the beta’s level cap, now raised from 20 to 30, providing players with more opportunities to progress and unlock content.

Addressing Community Feedback

Responding to player feedback, Treyarch has made significant adjustments to weapon balance, particularly targeting the Dravec 45 and M8A1. The developer acknowledged that these weapons were outperforming others in terms of time-to-kill (TTK) data and usage rates.

“We currently see these weapons well ahead of the pack in our TTK data, and they also have very high usage,” the developer stated, confirming updates to their time-to-kill stats and range.

Furthermore, the Zombies Survival mode has been extended following positive player responses. Treyarch has also introduced a Zombies Training Course to help newcomers learn the basics, ensuring a smoother entry into the mode.

Player Engagement and Future Prospects

Despite the introduction of new content, the beta’s player engagement has not met some expectations. According to SteamDB, Black Ops 7 reached a 24-hour peak of 75,222 players, with an all-time high of 377,211. On Twitch, the game currently maintains around 16,300 viewers.

By the Numbers: SteamDB reports a 24-hour peak of 75,222 players, with an all-time high of 377,211.

In a recent update, a Treyarch developer revealed that the studio had declined several “big brand” collaborations for the game, suggesting a focus on maintaining creative control and authenticity.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is slated for release on November 14, 2025, across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds around how these beta developments will shape the final product.

Meanwhile, the gaming community eagerly awaits further announcements and potential surprises from Treyarch, which could influence player engagement and the game’s reception upon its official launch.
