Robot floor cleaners, though a relatively small segment of the overall vacuum cleaner market, are rapidly gaining traction. As of now, only 10% of households employ these automated devices. Despite this, the market’s value has surged to $6.21 billion globally in 2025 and is expected to nearly double over the next five years, according to Mordor Intelligence.

“The robot vacuum category is my favorite right now,” says Andrew Gebhart, a senior writer at PCMag with extensive experience in testing these devices. “The major companies regularly push each other with meaningful innovations and sizable improvements.”

These innovations include robot cleaners capable of climbing stairs and a forthcoming Roborock model equipped with an arm to remove small obstacles. Artificial intelligence is also a significant player, with some models using AI to better target messes, making them particularly appealing to pet owners, parents, and busy individuals.

The Top Robot Floor Cleaner Brands for 2025

This year marks the fourth annual readers’ survey by PCMag, assessing the brands behind the robot vacuums, mops, and combination units that maintain our floors. The results reveal a strong preference for two brands: Roborock and Eufy. These brands have consistently topped the charts, with Shark brand cleaners from SharkNinja occasionally securing a category win.

Roborock, a China-based company, excels in overall satisfaction and nearly every subcategory, including battery life, obstacle avoidance, scheduling, home mapping, and its mobile app. The brand also boasts the highest likelihood to recommend score, reflecting strong word-of-mouth from satisfied users.

Eufy, a part of Anker Innovations, dominates several subcategories such as ease of use, noise level, and value. It is also particularly effective at handling pet hair.

Roborock scores an impressive 8.7 out of 10 for self-cleaning capabilities, a feature where the unit docks with a base station to collect dust and debris, minimizing the need for manual emptying.

A survey respondent highlighted the superiority of Roborock over competing brands, stating, “I have had iRobots for years, both vac and mop. There is no comparison. The Roborock does much more. It’s like it has a whole computer inside it. To be fair, it was twice the price. But it is amazing.”

Innovation and User Experience

According to Gebhart, “Roborock models tend to have base stations that do a lot of heavy lifting as far as maintenance goes. The brand is also innovative, having introduced recent models with robotic arms and with wheels that can climb over thresholds. Plus, Roborock tends to be at the front of the pack in terms of raw suction power.”

Despite the convenience of self-emptying options, all floor cleaners require some user maintenance, such as wiping sensors, detangling wheels, and changing mopping pads. Eufy leads in user maintenance ratings, with one user noting, “It works great. We knew it had to be manually emptied, but that is its ONLY drawback. We could not afford, nor have the space for, a self-emptying unit. This thing is awesome. And cheap.”

Comparative Analysis and Market Trends

When examining basic models without self-cleaning options, Roborock again takes the lead with an overall satisfaction score of 8.4. Filtering the results to focus solely on vacuum devices without mopping or scrubbing capabilities, Eufy emerges victorious with a superior satisfaction score, although its ratings are slightly lower than those for overall floor cleaners, indicating a preference for mopping options.

Gebhart comments, “Eufy’s higher-end models do tend to be more affordable than similarly capable models from other brands. We’ve also quite liked some of their simplest and most affordable models, which work quietly and are small enough to clean under most furniture.”

The Final Showdown: Roborock vs. iRobot

In the realm of standalone robot mops and combination devices, Roborock faces off against iRobot. Although iRobot has a storied history and once dominated the market, Roborock’s overall satisfaction in 2025 is a full two points ahead. Roborock consistently outperforms iRobot in every category, with noise level being their closest competition.
