Samsung has unveiled its latest innovation, the Vision AI Companion, for its compatible televisions and monitors, marking a significant advancement in AI-supported home entertainment. This new feature, powered by generative AI, is set to debut on select 2025 Samsung Smart TVs and monitors, promising more natural interactions and personalized content discovery.

The Vision AI Companion builds on Samsung’s existing Bixby voice assistant, aiming to enhance the home environment with integrated support and intuitive interactions. Initially rolling out in Australia, the feature will soon be available in Korea, North America, and certain European markets, with further expansions planned.

Personalization and Integration

The Vision AI Companion combines several of Samsung’s AI-driven display features, enabling users to engage with their televisions more naturally. It provides personalized recommendations and facilitates seamless interactions across various devices in a connected home setup.

Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, emphasized the company’s focus on aligning entertainment technology with individual needs and future use cases. “At Samsung, we’re investing in technology that makes experiences more personal, more intuitive, and built for the future,” Lee stated. “With Vision AI Companion, we are redefining what a TV can do, going beyond picture quality and sound to deliver an experience that understands you, interacts with you, and evolves with you over time.”

AI-Powered Interaction

Samsung’s Vision AI Companion distinguishes itself through its ability to answer questions and respond with intelligent, visual outputs, facilitated by multiple in-built AI agents. Generative AI allows the system to handle follow-up questions and maintain a conversational flow, enhancing user interaction.

The platform unifies several proprietary AI features, including Generative Wallpaper, AI Picture, Active Voice Amplifier Pro, and AI Upscaling Pro, which adjust display and sound settings based on the environment and content. For gamers, AI Gaming Mode optimizes performance, while productivity is boosted with AI agent apps like Copilot by Microsoft and Perplexity, available directly on the TV.

“Integrating these functions eliminates the need to toggle between different apps or menus, transforming the TV or monitor into a hub for entertainment, productivity, and device management,” Samsung stated.

Long-Term Support and Updates

Samsung first introduced the Vision AI concept at CES 2025, outlining its ambition to enhance user experiences across connected displays. The Vision AI Companion is part of Samsung’s commitment to providing seven years of software updates for supported models through the One UI Tizen platform, including regular security updates via Samsung Knox.

By incorporating Vision AI Companion into its product ecosystem, Samsung aims to solidify televisions as central devices within the connected home, addressing new user needs and enabling seamless device integration. Details about compatibility, including which models and regions will receive Vision AI Companion, have been partially released, with more updates expected as the global rollout progresses.

In Australia, consumers will experience the new features on eligible 2025 TV models, with expansion to other models and markets anticipated. This development underscores Samsung’s strategy to maintain its leadership in the smart home entertainment sector, leveraging AI to create more personalized and efficient user experiences.
