The 65th TV Week Logie Awards nominations have been announced, revealing a diverse array of talent vying for Australia’s most prestigious television honors. Among the nominees for the coveted Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television are familiar faces like Home and Away’s Lynne McGranger and television host Sonia Kruger, who is well-known for her roles on The Voice and Dancing with the Stars.

Joining them in the race for the top accolade are Julia Morris and Hamish Blake, alongside first-time nominees such as Ally Langdon, Lisa Millar, and Poh Ling Yeow. The nominations were revealed on Monday morning at the iconic Sydney Opera House, setting the stage for an exciting awards ceremony at The Star in Sydney on August 3.

A New Era for the Logies

This year’s Logies introduces a new category, the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter, recognizing the evolving landscape of Australian television. The award sits alongside established honors like the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.

Ray Martin himself attended the nominations announcement, which took place in the Yallamundi Rooms at the Sydney Opera House. The category’s inaugural nominees include 7 News’ Michael Usher, 9News’ Peter Overton, and 7.30’s Sarah Ferguson, among others.

Celebrating Australian Television

Amber Giles, TV Week’s Editorial Director, expressed excitement over the nominations, noting the broad spectrum of Australian stories represented.

The Gold Logie category is fiercely competitive, featuring Lynne McGranger, who recently concluded a 33-year tenure on Home and Away, and Sonia Kruger, who has become a staple on Australian television. Despite her nomination, McGranger will not attend the ceremony as she is currently overseas.

Other notable categories include the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter, with nominees like Ricki-Lee and Todd Woodbridge, and the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular Talent, highlighting rising stars such as Hailey Pinto and Guy Montgomery.
